Provide oversight and support to the residents for all medical and clinical needs.Maintain NYS certification to administer medication, including insulin.Schedule, accompany, and support individuals during all medical appointments.Complete weekly inventory of medications and first aid supplies; order as needed.Document and communicate all medical follow-up actions.Maintain current knowledge of all medical conditions and medications for individuals supported.Report any changes in medical status to the nurse and implement recommended follow-up.Administer first aid and maintain certification.Ensure access to appropriate medical treatment, including emergency care.Follow all policies and procedures related to medical care and medication management.Participate in all required medical and clinical training.Complete all required medical and clinical tracking.Conduct monthly medical audits and update health documentation in Foothold.Support management and nursing with medical training delivery.Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and significant planning meetings.Share relevant updates and provide input on individuals supported.Follow all behavior support plans.Maintain detailed knowledge of behavioral and safety support needs.Model positive, appropriate behavior.Complete appointment visit forms, medication records, and manage pharmacy pickups.Communicate professionally with individuals, families, coworkers, supervisors, and community partners DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Medical Support Professionals work under the supervision of a Manager/Assistant Manager. MSPs provide an array of supports to individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), individuals who have dual diagnosis, and/ or individuals on the autism spectrum. Supports provided may be offered in a residential, day, home, or other setting. MSPs assist and support individuals to identify and achieve their Personal Outcome Measures TM (POMs). MSPs motivate individuals to develop their vocational, nutritional, social, and personal skills to achieve the highest possible level of independence. All supports are offered in positive settings, that are the least restrictive possible. DEMONSTRATIVE DUTIES Medical Support Professionals provide observations, evaluations, and reports to other team members to ensure and/or record an individual’s progress toward their personal goals, in accordance with their individual support plans. In doing this, they guide, assist, and teach individuals to advance their skills to foster an independence based on their needs, preferences, and desires. All staff are expected to be alert and focused on the person supported needs along with being free from personal distractions (for example: personal phone calls, texting on cell phones, wearing headphones, etc.) COMMUNICATION As a member of the program planning team, Medical Support Professionals communicate with other DSPs, supervisors and/or clinical staff, Individuals, families, employers, community members and others for the purpose of sharing information and obtaining direction. MSP’s have a significant role in terms of communication and ensuring important information is exchanged. Communication is expected to be professional, whether in writing or verbally, and must always adhere to the organization’s confidentiality policies and procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT AND PERSONAL INTEREST • Supports all individuals’ developmental needs, desires, preferences, and choices in areas such as: POM’s, positive behavioral support, communication, nutritional well-being, medical care and socialization • Encourages positive interactions with staff, neighbors and encourages community integration through an array of activities based on the individual’s choices and preferences. • Supports individuals in work sites, cultural activities, religious and social events, and day programs opportunities. • Supports and advocates at visits to healthcare practitioners; aids in developing awareness and use of community resources and in interacting with others; provides support for maximum community integration. • Supports and provides opportunities to individuals in developing/maintaining positive interpersonal relationships with their peers, their families, people in the community, and provides opportunities to build new friendships to expand the person’s circle of support. • Assists, as needed, in explaining feelings, resolving conflicts, teaching/reinforcing acceptable means of dissipating frustration, and anger. • Advocates for holistic care for individuals, including requests for clinical services. • Advocates and accompanies individuals to scheduled appointments, communicating pertinent follow up information. • Provides support in activities surrounding personal care including toileting, bathing and eating. • Teaches and reinforces use of a variety of communication methods or use of augmented devices. Provides a positive environment conducive to learning new skills; makes suggestions for further training. • Transports/arranges for transport of individuals as needed. • Assists Individuals in development in or enhancement of mobility skills. • Intervenes when needed to protect individuals. PROGRAM PLANNING • Provides information, documentation, shares observations and offers insights into the development of individual support, plans and implementation of chosen POM’s. • Documents all services and support provided to individuals supported based on them Individualized program plan(s) and enter information into computerized system. • Tracks and documents individual’s progress on goals. • Assists the individuals in planning and preparing meals while following dietary menus, eating protocols and serving all meals in a family style manner. • Reviews and initials communication log(s) upon arriving at assigned work site, documents all activities and information in the daily log. • Administers and documents Medication Administration per AMAP training and doctor’s orders; teachers, observes, reports problems and progress in self-administration of medication programs; assist individuals in achieving more independence in administration of medications. • Notifies program nurse and manager/supervisor of any changes in medication, individual’s condition, or any other health related concerns. • Follows all OPWDD and Organization’s Policies and Procedures regarding reporting injuries, incidents, or other related events. • Identifies and responds to unexpected, unplanned, and emergency situations as they occur. notifies appropriate management and follows the Agencies Policies and Procedures. MAINTAINING THE ENVIRONMENT • Ensures that the program environment is clean, safe and offers a positive home like environment. DSPs are expected to report any equipment malfunction, structure concerns or any safety issues. • Observes and follows through on established emergency notification procedures in a manner which ensures the safety and welfare of all individuals at all times. • Ensures a safe environment is maintained at all times. • Conducts and documents fire drills following the Fire Evacuation Plan; reports any system or equipment malfunction to their supervisor. OTHER • Maintains all certifications and licensures as required (AMAP, SCIP-R, CPR, First Aid) • Maintains confidentiality of information in accordance with HIPAA regulations, the Employee handbook and organization Policies and Procedures. • Actively participates in staff meetings, training, and personal development goals. AWAKE OVERNIGHT STAFF – These are staff that work overnight shifts but stay awake throughout their shift. In addition to the The above responsibilities the DSP working the awake-overnight position will: • Complete bed checks, as applicable and document on logs • Complete, read and file appropriate documentation including progress notes and critical incident reports. • Support all individuals within the program at bedtime and morning routines as written in the habilitation plans. • Respond to all emergencies, as per the Organization incident reporting policy. • Follow the overnight shift assignments Your Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma; Preferred Six months work experience with individuals with I/DD. Willingness to continue to develop professional skills and educational opportunities. LANGUAGE SKILLS Good written and verbal communication skills; Bi-lingual a plus; ability to learn basic sign language when needed MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Basic routine documentation and tabulation of progress REASONING SKILLS Able to align POMS/ Code of Ethics/ DSP competencies and incorporate standards into daily activities and support offered to individuals within all programs. COMPUTER SKILLS Basic computer skills required, such as Word, Excel etc. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS Must be cleared through a Criminal Background Check and Fingerprinting by Justice Center, MHLS, and OCFS; must acquire and maintain mandatory training as required (AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid); must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License (except for Community Habilitation Services). OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Positive attitude towards working with individuals with developmental disabilities (ID/DD) and ability to success fully work in a team environment including with other staff, families, and community members. DSP’s must be able to demonstrate creativity and flexibility in their daily job activities. Fitness Program, • Pet Insurance, • Legal Assistance, • Optum Financial Service through ConnectYourCare The Assistant Director of Early Educational Services is responsible for supporting the Deputy Director of Educational Services with the day-to-day operation and coordination of all Odyssey House Early Educational Services. She/he is responsible for supporting all childcare workers, assistant teachers and teachers within oversight of job performance, guidance of all program employees and for the direct supervision of designated subordinate staff. She/he is responsible for maintaining compliance with New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, the Bureau of Childcare regulations and assuring that early educational services are delivered in accordance with Odyssey House organizational standards. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • The role of the Assistant Director of Education Services will be 50% administrative and 50% classroom support., • Support the Director of Educational Services in developing and monitoring program systems, policies, and procedures., • Support the Director of Educational Services in maintaining good relations with and act as liaison to the regulatory body, partnering agencies, referral sources, the community-at-large, and the corporate officers., • Prepare informational material and documents for prospective parents., • Supporting the teaching team in screening, assessment and school enrollment of all children newly admitted into the program., • Supervise the maintenance of adequate and up-to-date school records on all children, as well as supervise record keeping responsibilities of staff in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and Odyssey House policies., • Act as child advocate, assuring that all children’s rights are respected and that all parent’s grievances and complaints are addressed in a timely and equitable manner in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations., • Support the Director of Educational Services in ensuring coverage for the facility and maintain on-call telephone accessibility on an ongoing basis., • Support the Deputy Director of Educational Services in all personnel actions, including recruitment, hiring, evaluation, promotion, disciplinary action and separation of program staff., • Support the Deputy Director of Educational Services in assuring that all program staff members are adequately trained by providing and implementing formal orientation plans to all newly hired subordinate staff., • Managing and supporting the Pantry with overall maintenance, ordering and organization., • Observing classrooms and teaching staff and providing feedback in those observations. Support the Deputy Director of Educational Services in providing direct supervision for designated staff as per Odyssey House policies., • Providing the Deputy Director of Educational Services in preparing written annual evaluations on staff under his/her supervision., • Support the Deputy Director of Educational Services in conducting regular administrative meetings with staff., • Support the Deputy Director of Educational Services in providing ongoing training for program staff and participate in Odyssey House in-service trainings., • Coordinating all classroom meals, including menu preparation, and for the timely completion of all school lunch form documentation., • Ensuring the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the classrooms and to ensure compliance with safety and physical plant standards., • Comply with all Department of Health regulations and participate in the certification process., • Lead quality management activities including ensuring that all Quality Assurance and Incident Reporting activities are conducted in accordance with Odyssey House policies and applicable regulatory standards., • Support the Deputy Director of Educational Services in preparing all proposals and reports as needed including monthly reports and an annual work plan., • Other relevant duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES, • New York State Initial or Permanent Teacher Certification (N-6) or (Birth – 2nd grade) and a master’s degree in early childhood education, Special Education or general Education are required., • Experience working with families and children with special needs aged newborn to five and, • A minimum of two years’ experience as a group teacher in a program for children under five years of age;, • One (1) year of early educational supervisory and administrative experience preferred., • Knowledge of NYC Department of Health Regulations and codes required., • Knowledge of OASAS and ACS protocol., • NYS Central Registry Check and fingerprint clearance required., • Must have completed Child Abuse Reporting and School Safety and Violence Trainings., • Proficiency with computer operation (Microsoft Word, Excel, Electronic Health Record and Outlook programs)., • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings.

Summary: New York Edge is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Director who will assist in the overall administration of the New York Edge After-School Program under the supervision of the After-School Program Director, including but not limited to implementing enrichment activities, theme-based projects, scheduling activities, daily supervision of staff, record keeping and reporting, communicating with parents, and organizing special events. The Assistant Director covers the site in the absence of ASPD under the supervision of the Program Manager. Schedule: Monday – Friday (Days/shifts vary depending on site needs, usually 12pm - 6pm) This role requires you to be in person. Pay: $25 - $30/hour Essential Job Functions: * Directly responsible for the overall supervision of academic counselors and an academic component of the after-school program * Prepare alternative activities to implement during homework sessions that complement the academic session * Provide a seamless day that aligns homework sessions with day school standards of learning * Responsible for leading trips off-site and supervising students and staff for the duration of the entire outing * Encourage and lead projects that foster academic, cultural, and artistic growth * Provide coverage for activity specialists * Promote teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship, including ultimate responsibility for youth behavior at the site and on trips. * Communicate the program’s challenges, progress, and success with After-School Program Director. * Ensures the Afterschool program is compliant with all DYCD, DOE, and DOHMH regulations and timelines and stays abreast of all local, state, and federal pandemic management conditions and requirements. * Other duties as assigned Required Skills: * Able to work late afternoons and/or evenings. * Knowledgeable and skilled in Academics, Sports, or Arts programs and have prior experience successfully teaching and instructing youth in Academics, Sports, or Arts. * Knowledge of the New York City Department of Education Qualifications: * Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree or demonstration of actively completing a B.A. Degree. * A minimum of one year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
