Job Description Job Summary UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is looking for a Physician Assistant to join our Orthocare Clinic. Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited PA program. Current or Pending NYS license required. This is an excellent opportunity for seasoned PA's with urgent care experience, as well as PA's new to Orthopaedics. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply, including current students and new grads. Job Description The Physician Assistant is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing quality medical services under the supervision of a Physician through the identification of short-term and long-range patient care issues and recommending options and course of action while implementing physician directives. This is a full time, exempt position in our Urgent Care Clinic (Orthocare). Responsibilities include patient screenings, and patient assessments within an urgent care setting. Candidates must be comfortable seeing patients of all ages performing typical urgent care procedures; suturing, wound repair, ortho splinting, casting, etc. Prior urgent care or emergency medicine experience is a plus, but not required. The position requires a professional person with excellent clinical and communication skills who has the ability to work autonomously. Duties • Elicits a detailed and accurate patient health history and performs a physical examination; records these along with progress notes in the patient’s charts., • Determines abnormal conditions by ordering diagnostic tests such as X-rays, EKG’s and basic laboratory studies and interprets test results., • Formulates an initial diagnosis, therapeutic plan and treatment., • Provides fracture care including reductions, operative vs. non-operative care, splint, suture, and staple applications/removals., • Performs such routine therapeutic procedures as intramuscular injections, immunizations, wound care, joint aspirations, joint injections, and incision and drainage of superficial infections., • Answers all patients phone calls regarding the clinic. Triages as appropriate., • Completes all forms and required paper., • Facilitate referrals when needed., • Performs as first or second surgical assist during operation., • Rounds at hospitals as required by Physician., • Complies with Federal, State, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, and enforcing adherence to requirements., • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed., • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by obtaining required CME’s, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies., • Respects and protects the confidentiality of all patient and Company information through the adherence of all HIPAA guidelines and regulations., • Assumes other duties as requested by Physician. Job Description Physical Therapist Assistant The Physical Therapist Assistant, under direct supervision of a Physical Therapist, will work in a outpatient orthopaedic setting, and will be responsible for treatment of various orthopaedic injuries including pre and post-surgical conditions. Works closely with Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, and other staff to provide injury management, rehabilitation, and successful return to function for patients. Duties • Read all physical therapy documentation, including initial examination and plan of care., • Note indications, contraindications, precautions, and safety considerations for the patient., • Note goals and expected outcomes., • Seek clarification from physical therapist, as needed., • Review information in the medical record at each visit, including:, • Monitor medical records for changes in medical status and/or medical procedures., • Collect data on patient’s current condition, compare results to previously collected data and safety parameters established by the physical therapist, and determine if the safety parameters have been met., • Seek clarification from appropriate health professions’ staff for unfamiliar or ambiguous information., • Identify when the directed interventions are either beyond the scope of work or personal scope of work of the PTA., • Communicate to the physical therapist when there are significant changes in the patient’s medical status, physician referral, or when the critical and complexity of the patient is beyond the knowledge, skills and abilities of the PTA., • Explain the rationale for selected interventions to achieve patient goals as identified in the plan of care., • Provide interventions compliant with federal and state licensing requirements, APTA standards documents (ex.
