Tech Ops Engineer – ETF Market Making & Derivatives Trading Systems (Low Latency) Location: New York City, NY (Hybrid Onsite) Rate: 85-100/hr W2 About the Role: We are seeking a Tech Ops Engineer with deep ETF market making and derivatives trading knowledge to support and enhance a high-performance electronic trading environment. This role sits at the intersection of trading, technology, and vendor platforms, with a strong focus on latency optimization, system performance, and ETF/derivatives workflows. While hands-on technical skills are critical, the ideal candidate will function as a Derivatives Subject Matter Expert (SME)—able to understand how trading workflows (especially ETF market making, RFQ-based trading, and pricing/hedging) translate into system behavior and performance. This role will play a key part in initiatives aimed at modernizing and accelerating trading capabilities, including work tied to vendor platforms (e.g., Tbricks/Broadridge) and broader strategic efforts to enhance speed, scalability, and competitiveness. Key Responsibilities Trading Systems Support & Performance Optimization • Provide hands-on support for electronic trading systems across ETF market making, equities, and derivatives workflows, • Troubleshoot issues across order flow, pricing, RFQs, quoting, and execution workflows, • Analyze and improve system latency, throughput, and stability in a real-time trading environment, • Partner with trading and quant teams to diagnose performance bottlenecks and behavioral anomalies ETF & Derivatives Workflow Expertise (Core to Role) • Act as a technical SME for ETF market making and derivatives trading, including:, • RFQ (Request-for-Quote) workflows, • ETF pricing, quoting, and hedging using underlyings and/or derivatives, • Order lifecycle for derivatives and ETF-related instruments, • Translate trading behavior into technical requirements and system-level improvements, • Support onboarding and validation of new ETFs, instruments, strategies, and venues Platform & Vendor Integration • Work closely with external vendors and trading platforms (e.g., Tbricks / Broadridge or similar), • Support integration and optimization of vendor systems within internal trading architecture, • Collaborate on initiatives to improve execution speed and infrastructure performance, including:, • High-performance networking components (e.g., low-latency network cards), • Market data and execution pipelines, • Contribute to strategic efforts such as platform migrations Technical Troubleshooting & Engineering • Perform deep-dive troubleshooting across:, • Linux environments, • FIX protocol sessions and message flows, • Log analysis and system diagnostics, • Build tools and scripts using Python and SQL to:, • Automate monitoring and diagnostics, • Analyze trading and system performance data, • Support and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with:, • ETF market making trading desks (equities + derivatives), • Quant teams, • Infrastructure and network engineering, • External vendors and platform providers, • Communicate clearly during incidents, including:, • Business impact, • Root cause analysis (RCA), • Resolution timelines Required Qualifications • 3+ years of experience in production support, trading systems engineering, or tech ops within electronic trading environments, • Strong hands-on experience with:, • Python, • Linux, • FIX Protocol, • SQL, • Solid understanding of:, • ETF market making and derivatives trading workflows, • RFQ-based trading models, • Order lifecycle (new / ack / fill / cancel / replace), • Experience troubleshooting low-latency or high-performance trading systems, • Ability to operate in real-time, high-pressure trading environments Preferred Qualifications • Direct experience supporting ETF market making or delta-one trading desks, including pricing and hedging workflows, • Experience with trading platforms such as Tbricks (Broadridge) or similar vendor systems, • Exposure to latency optimization, performance tuning, or high-frequency trading environments, • Experience working with external vendors and platform integrations, • Familiarity with network performance optimization or low-latency infrastructure What We’re Really Looking For • A technically strong engineer who understands ETF and derivatives trading, not a trader, • A derivatives-focused problem solver who can bridge business and system behavior, • Strong understanding of how ETF pricing and hedging workflows behave in live markets, • Someone who can help answer: “How do we make this faster, smarter, and more competitive?”, • A professional comfortable working across internal teams and external vendors to drive outcomes Work Environment • This role supports a live ETF market making trading desk, • May include:, • Early hours for pre-market readiness, • On-call rotation for production incidents, • Occasional weekend work for releases and system changes Why Join Us? • 401(k) Matching Plan, • Medical, Dental, & Vision Plans, • Relationship Driven Process to Find Your Best Fit, • 6 Paid Holidays, • Regular Meetings to Ensure Quality in Your Engagement About Us: At Brooksource, relationships are the foundation of everything we do.
