About the Role We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Assistant Facilities Manager to help oversee the daily operations of our premier indoor tennis destination in New York City. Our facility features 12 Har-Tru clay courts housed within two air-supported structures ("bubbles"), accompanied by our clubhouse which includes full locker rooms, a member lounge, and the sales and administrative offices. The Assistant Facilities Manager will ensure the facility remains pristine, safe, and fully operational for our diverse membership base, which ranges from 4-year-old beginners to 94-year-old super-stars. This role requires a blend of technical maintenance skills, team leadership, and administrative organization to maintain our "upscale" standard of excellence. Responsibilities • Court & Air Structure Maintenance, • Har-Tru Care: Oversee the daily grooming of 12 Har-Tru courts, including watering schedules, scarifying, rolling, line sweeping, and tape repair to ensure optimal playing conditions., • Bubble Operations: Monitor the air-supported structures, including air pressure, inflation units, heating systems, and revolving doors., • Weather Management: Lead the team during inclement weather events; specifically monitoring snow accumulation on air structures and coordinating immediate snow removal to ensure structural integrity and member safety., • Lighting & Equipment: Perform routine checks on LED court lighting, nets, windscreens, and court dividers., • Clubhouse & General Facility Standards, • Daily upkeep: Conduct hourly walkthroughs of the clubhouse, lounge, and locker rooms to ensure upscale cleanliness standards are met., • Systems Maintenance: Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical fixtures, and carpentry., • Safety & Accessibility: Ensure all areas are safe and accessible for all age groups (4–94), proactively identifying tripping hazards, wet floors, or egress issues., • Aesthetics: Manage painting touch-ups, furniture repair, and landscaping to maintain the facility's quality appearance., • Team Leadership & Scheduling, • Supervision: Manage, train, and schedule a team of porters, maintenance staff, and court attendants., • Training: Develop and implement training protocols for court grooming, chemical handling, and emergency response., • Performance Measurement: Conduct regular performance reviews and quality control spot-checks to ensure the team meets cleaning and maintenance targets., • Administration & Vendor Relations, • Inventory Management: Oversee the purchasing of maintenance supplies, clay, calcium chloride, cleaning chemicals, and locker room amenities (towels, soaps, etc.), ensuring budget adherence., • Vendor Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for external contractors (HVAC specialists, plumbers, electricians, deep-cleaning services)., • Compliance: Maintain all NYC building logs, FDNY permits (Place of Assembly, Fire Guard), and ensure compliance with OSHA and health department regulations. Qualifications • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in facilities management, property management, or club operations., • Court Knowledge: Previous experience maintaining Har-Tru/Clay courts is highly preferred., • Technical Skills: Functional knowledge of HVAC, air-supported structures (bubbles), plumbing, and general carpentry., • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of hourly employees., • Certifications: Valid Driver’s License required. FDNY Certificates of Fitness (e.g., F-01, S-95) are a major plus (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hiring). CPR/AED certification. Required Skills • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with high-net-worth members and children alike. Preferred Skills • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 80 lbs (e.g., bags of clay or calcium chloride)., • Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders for extended periods., • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by facility usage and weather emergencies.
