Job Description Middle School Math Teacher Job Description Reports To School Administrator / Head of School Job Purpose We are seeking a highly effective, mission-aligned Middle School Math Teacher to serve students in grades 6–8. The ideal candidate is a strong mathematics instructor who fosters deep conceptual understanding while also supporting learning in science and/or STEM electives. This position is ideal for an educator who values small class sizes, meaningful student relationships, and a collaborative school culture. In addition to core instruction, the teacher will have the opportunity to help develop STEM learning experiences and lead a student club aligned with their interests and expertise. As a Christian school, we are committed to integrating faith and learning. We seek a teacher who models Christ-centered character and worldview through both instruction and relationships. Position Type Full-Time, Salaried / Exempt Salary Range $45,504 – $48,231 annually Customary Working Hours Five (5) days per week Eight (8) hours per day 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (includes a 30-minute lunch break) Candidate Profile Spiritual Qualifications The candidate shall: • Possess a strong and clear Christian testimony, • Be an active member of a local church, • Accept without reservation the school’s Statement of Faith and Philosophy of Christian Education, • Demonstrate an awareness of God’s calling to the ministry of Bethany Christian School, • Support the vision and mission of Bethany Church, • Live a lifestyle reflecting biblical integrity and spiritual maturity Professional Qualifications The candidate shall: • Demonstrate a heart for ministry and care for others, • Be proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Slides), and database management systems, • Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, • Exercise integrity and discretion when handling confidential information, • Provide constructive input regarding school administration and operations, • Model the Matthew 18 principle when addressing concerns with students, parents, faculty, and administration, • Recognize the parent as primarily responsible for the education of their child and partner with families in that responsibility Personal Qualifications The candidate shall: • Maintain an appearance of cleanliness, modesty, and professionalism, • Demonstrate the ability to receive counsel and constructive feedback, • Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to both the school community and the public, • Exhibit appropriate interpersonal behavior and professionalism, • Notify administration regarding any policy he/she cannot support, • Appreciate and understand the distinctiveness of the Christian school community Position Overview As a Christian role model, the Middle School Teacher shall exemplify a Christ-centered life and work collaboratively with parents and staff to cultivate a safe, caring learning environment. The teacher will support students in achieving excellence in academics, Christian character, and servant leadership. Essential Job Responsibilities The Classroom Teacher shall: • Reflect the mission of the school by honoring Christ in every class and activity, • Encourage students toward faith in Christ through personal example and Christian witness, • Help students recognize their identity and self-worth in Christ, • Support and implement all school policies, procedures, and administrative directives, • Teach assigned classes according to the prescribed curriculum and schedule, • Integrate biblical principles and Christian worldview throughout instruction and activities, • Maintain appropriate classroom discipline and a positive learning environment, • Maintain a clean, organized, and attractive classroom, • Develop semester, quarterly, and daily lesson plans aligned with instructional objectives, • Differentiate instruction to meet the varying needs, interests, and abilities of students, • Utilize effective teaching strategies and instructional materials that support the whole child spiritually, academically, physically, socially, and emotionally, • Incorporate field trips, guest speakers, and other educational resources when appropriate, • Use homework effectively for review, reinforcement, enrichment, and projects, • Assess student learning regularly and provide timely progress reports, • Maintain accurate attendance and grade records, • Communicate student progress, concerns, and deficiencies clearly with parents and administration, • Represent the school positively within the school community and general public, • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff characterized by dignity, respect, and professionalism, • Apply the Matthew 18 principle in conflict resolution, • Seek counsel from administrators, colleagues, and parents with a teachable attitude, • Attend required meetings, devotionals, retreats, professional development sessions, and school events, • Understand and follow emergency procedures, • Notify administration promptly when unable to fulfill assigned duties, • Prepare clear plans and materials for substitute teachers when needed, • Identify student learning needs and provide appropriate accommodations to support student success Supplemental Responsibilities The Classroom Teacher may also: • Supervise extracurricular activities, organizations, and student outings as assigned, • Participate in professional growth opportunities and evaluations, • Provide recommendations to support school improvement and operations, • Support the broader mission and programs of the school by attending extracurricular events when possible, • Perform additional duties as assigned by administration Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree required, • Valid California Teaching Credential required, • ACSI Teacher Certification (or willingness to obtain), • Prior classroom teaching experience preferred Classification Professional / Exempt Accountability Accountable to the Head of School and other designated administrators
