About the Adult Media Instructor Role: BRIC is seeking a dynamic and experienced adult educator to lead a range of engaging media courses, offered both in-person and online. Instruction areas include Television Studio Production, Field Video Production, Video Editing (Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve), Narrative and Documentary Filmmaking, Intro to Podcasting, Motion Graphics (After Effects, Nuke), and Audio Production (Audition, Ableton Live), among others. In addition to teaching, there are opportunities to contribute as a mentor within our cohort programs, support curriculum development, partnerships, and participate in longer-term workforce training initiatives. What Youll Do in the Role: The Adult Media Instructor will be responsible for: • Preparing course materials and delivering high-quality media instruction to classes of 1215 adult learners in person and up to 50 students in virtual settings, • Assessing student progress and issuing certifications upon successful course completion, where applicable, • Tracking attendance and facilitating course evaluations to support continuous improvement, • Collaborating regularly with the Manager of Adult Education to review curriculum, assess outcomes, and refine instructional approaches Youll Bring these Skills and Strengths to the Role: • Mission & Values Alignment: A passion for BRICs support of the arts in Brooklyn and a deep commitment to building community, igniting learning and making change through the arts and creativity., • Qualifications and Experience., • Bachelors degree in a relevant field (MFA preferred), • Teaching experience in a higher education or adult education setting required, • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, • Experience working with variety of cameras, production workflows & post-production software, • Documentary or ENG filmmaking experience, • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, podcast production, television studio production, • Communication & Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. An emotionally intelligent, values- and results-driven team player who can inspire staff and collaborate across departments and at all levels of the organization., • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the media function. Other Things to Know: • Compensation: The hourly rate varies depending on the class and ranges $30-50/hr + an additional hour prep time for each class session, • Status, Schedule and location: This is a part-time, non-exempt role, with flexible hours and class location (online, in-person at BRIC, or at the Brooklyn Public Libraries.) The duration of a single class session is two-three hours with a multi-session course ranging between 6 and 24 total hours., • This position is part of a NABET-CWA collective bargaining unit., • Benefits: After 40 hours of work, PT employees can accrue PTO for sick/medical leave, • Mission & Values: BRIC builds Brooklyn's creative future.
