Job Description Job Title: Program Staff Organization: My Place Home for the Homeless, Inc.Location: Buffalo, NY About Us:My Place Home for the Homeless, Inc. is a dedicated not-for-profit organization focused on providing comprehensive support to individuals experiencing homelessness. We offer both temporary/emergency housing and permanent supportive housing, along with essential resources such as job training, mental health and medical services, and access to transportation. Our mission is to empower individuals to regain stability and self-sufficiency through compassionate care and community-based solutions. Job Overview:We are now hiring various shifts for Direct Care Staff in Buffalo, NY, to provide person-centered care tailored to meet the needs of individuals at My Place Home for the Homeless. This is a fantastic opportunity for professional growth, while making a difference! Starting pay is $17/hr, depending on experience and based on shift. Responsibilities: • Empower guests and provide support and crisis intervention through trauma-informed care., • Support and assist guests with their shelter needs as they arise (ex. questions, concerns, hygienesupplies, cleaning supplies, bedding, food and more).• Maintain safety and security of shelter property, and report concerns to Shelter Manager/On-Callor to the authorities.• Ensure the privacy and safety of other guests by not confirming identity of other guests, and by notallowing anyone other than guests, staff, case workers or law enforcement on the premises.• Maintain the cleanliness of shelter through performing housekeeping tasks outlined in Staff task lists (ex. sweeping, mopping, disinfecting)., • Complete Shelter room checks with Shelter Manager as requested., • Complete Shelter Inventory and organizational/shelter upkeep duties as assigned., • Perform basic maintenance as needed (ex. changing light bulbs, plunging toilets) and report anymajor maintenance issues to Day Staff., • Complete shadowing tasks as assigned when new team members join the support staff team., • Attend regularly scheduled monthly meetings and trainings. • High school diploma., • Experience working in the mental health field or with disabled people., • First aid and CPR training is a MUST., • CNA or similar certification a plus., • Friendly, professional demeanor., • Strong emotional intelligence and listening skills.
