Job Description • Job Description Major Responsibilities Knows the route and remains alert to monitor the welfare of passengers while enroute. Keeps order on the bus. Communicates behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver. Cooperates and communicates with school personnel, parents and students. Assists in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus utilizing Zonar technology, including child checks. Assists students in the loading and unloading process. Cooperates and communicates with school personnel, parents and students. Attends all safety and training meetings. Conducts emergency evacuation from the bus, including exiting from the emergency door. Opens and closes service doors and moves up and down steps multiple times daily. Cleans the insides of the bus including sweeping, dusting and cleaning windows. Cleans outside windows of the bus. Assists the driver whenever necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards. Other specialized functions as required by contract. Minimum Education or Certifications Required Minimum Experience or Skills Required Good verbal communication skills. The ability to work early morning hours. Attention to detail. Good judgment/problem solving skills. Conflict resolution skills. Ability to manage high degrees of stress. Strong interpersonal skills. Your day as a School Bus Monitor/Aide will include: Help students safely board and exit the bus Assist children with special needs during transport Ensure students remain seated and follow bus safety rules Communicate with the driver to maintain a safe, calm ride Provide care and encouragement to students each day School Bus Monitor/Aide qualifications: At least 21 years of age Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible split shifts (AM/PM). Physical ability to assist students and perform emergency procedures. CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
