Job DescriptionDescription: Job Title: Delivery Driver Reports To: Branch Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Warehouse Division: Auburn, NY Fisher & Thompson, Inc is committed to achieving excellence in the Dairy Industry by serving the customer with Honor and Integrity. Summary: Delivery drivers will focus on the safe delivery of route supplies to the customer farms. Primary Duties/Responsibilities: • Safely operate company truck and complete pre-trip inspections., • Load the truck and secure the load., • Ensure all sales orders are in order for delivery., • Obtain any other equipment or accessories needed for delivery run (E-Z Pass, GPS, etc.), • Ensure truck is placarded correctly for load on truck and follow all HazMat protocols involving driving with placards., • Deliver product to each customer in milk house or other specified area as determined by customer or supervisor., • Double-check all products before leaving customer location to ensure delivery accuracy., • Be mindful or any notes or comments on sales orders and fulfill as needed., • Responsible for making all deliveries as efficiently as possible., • Ensure the truck is unloaded at the end of the delivery run and truck is ready for next day., • Assist with all warehouse personnel functions including unloading freight trucks, picking orders, small pick-ups and deliveries, restocking, and trash removal., • Communicate any issues with equipment or personnel to your supervisor., • Direct any customer complaints while on delivery to appropriate salesman or supervisor., • Keep customer invoices neat and organized., • Be a positive part of the F&T team., • Other duties as assigned.Requirements: Skills/Abilities: Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle within DMV and DOT guidelines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Ability to preserve confidential information. Ability to follow an S.O.P. Understanding of inventory processing Willingness to work independently and as part of a team when necessary. Education and Experience: Must possess Valid CDL A or B Driver's License with Hazmat Endorsement. Clean driving record with minimum two years of commercial driving experience. Prior experience operating a forklift. Management Responsibilities: This position has no management responsibilities. Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass DOT medical certification exam and operate a commercial box truck. Ability to lift 50lbs at a time. Ability to maneuver 145lbs plus with barrel carts, pallet jacks, and manually. Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and or squat to load and unload deliveries as well as complete pre and post trip truck inspections. Equipment Used: General equipment used in this position includes but is not limited to commercial vehicles, skid loader, power lift, forklift, pallet jacks (electrical and manual), power tools, hand tools, and ladders. As well as laptop/tablet/smartphone and other general office equipment. Safety, Protective Clothing & Gear Requirements: Safety requirements for this position include but are not limited to all DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations. Proper footwear must be worn while working on farms and in warehouses. Use of safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hat, etc. Employees must follow any additional safety requirements as posted in specific job areas. Environmental Conditions: Working conditions potentially associated with this position include, but are not limited to, farm environment, hazardous materials, electrical hazards, frequent driving, power tool operation, adverse weather conditions, forklift operation, and use of a ladder.
