Job DescriptionJob Title: Authorization Specialist (Onsite) Location: Ithaca, NY 14850 Duration: 13 Weeks Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Authorization Specialist to support the prior authorization process in a healthcare setting. This role is responsible for coordinating insurance approvals, verifying patient coverage, and ensuring timely access to medications and healthcare services while maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance. Key Responsibilities: • Initiate prior authorizations via fax, insurance portals, and third-party systems, • Follow up with insurance providers regarding authorization status and approvals, • Submit required clinical documentation to support authorization determinations, • Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage details, • Accurately collect and enter patient demographic and financial information into systems, • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all authorization activities, • Utilize electronic medical records (EMR), registration systems, and verification tools efficiently, • Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare regulations, insurance processes, and reimbursement practices, • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, clinics, insurance representatives, and internal teams, • Support departmental goals related to productivity, quality, and customer service, • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies and procedures, • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and perform additional duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:, • High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of relevant healthcare experienceRequired Experience:, • Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare environment (hospital, physician practice, surgery center, or health plan), • At least 1 year of prior authorization experience with a healthcare provider or insurance company, • Experience with insurance verification, hospital registration, or healthcare data processing, • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT codes, and diagnosis coding, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)Core Competencies:, • Excellent communication and customer service skills, • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, • High attention to detail and accuracy, • Ability to work independently in a hybrid/remote environment, • Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills, • Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalismPhysical Requirements:, • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, • Repetitive use of hands and fingers for computer work About Navitas Healthcare, LLC: It is a certified WBENC and one of the fastest-growing healthcare staffing firms in the US providing Medical, Clinical and Non-Clinical services to numerous hospitals.
