The Medical Assistant (MA) is key in assisting the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures. They perform patient services as requested which may include but is not limited to phlebotomy, obtaining EKG’s, collecting and processing specimens, applying bandages/splints as well as perform patient vital signs and other care as needed. Responsibilities: · Assisting the physician with basic patient care and medical procedures within the Medical Assistant (MA) scope of practice. · Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. · Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. · Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) · Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. · Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. · Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct. · Package specimen for transport. · Ensuring the site is fully stocked with supplies • Helping maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment, • Providing compassionate care to our patients, • Assisting with training and acclimation of new hire MAs · Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen. Qualifications: · A High School Degree or GED · Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program, with Certified (CM) Medical Assistant credential preferred and/or phlebotomy and EKG certifications · -6 months experience in the field preferred · Excellent communication and bedside manner · Flexible with full-time work schedule including weekends · Able to conduct EKGs · Comfortable with phlebotomy, preferably over 100 blood draws · Experience performing rapid bedside tests preferred ex: UA, finger stick, rapid mono etc · Strong aptitude for detail, and ability to work independently, required · Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills required · Computer Proficiency required · Happy and positive thinking, able to project this attitude around others · Flexible & adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment · Bilingual language skills required or preferred based on site locations ESSEN HEALTH CARE IS PROUD TO BE AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Essen Health care is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and we seek candidates who desire to work in and serve an ethnically diverse population* Company DescriptionAt Essen Health Care, we care for that!
