Position Title: Shutdown Construction Manager Location: Newport News, VA Per diem provided (more info below) Duration: 2.5 month contract (Project-Based) • June 6, 2026 – August 10, 2026, • ~500 total hours over ~2 months à breakdown below Project Overview This role supports a major ammonia-based industrial freezer modification within a GMP-regulated food manufacturing facility. The project includes enabling work, a highly intensive shutdown window, and post-enabling/startup activities. The Construction Manager will serve as the single point of coordination for safety, quality, schedule, and documentation, working alongside specialty trade contractors. This is not a traditional GC role — the CM acts as the owner’s on-site coordinator and quality lead. Key Responsibilities Project & Construction Coordination • Act as the day-to-day Construction Manager on site, coordinating multiple specialty contractors performing the work., • Track and manage daily activities, schedule adherence, and resource loading., • Support enabling work, shutdown execution, and post-shutdown/start-up activities., • Maintain situational awareness with active manufacturing lines on both sides of the work area during shutdown. Quality Control & Documentation • Serve as the single point of quality control for the project., • Verify material receipts to confirm they are per specification., • Document installation activities and confirm compliance with drawings and project requirements., • Sign off on:, • Pressure tests, • Conformity / quality inspection reports, • Maintain detailed records of:, • Quality inspections, • As-built conditions, • Any deviations from construction drawings, • Ensure GMP documentation expectations are met. Safety & Compliance • Oversee site safety compliance during high-risk shutdown activities., • Coordinate safe access and work sequencing in live manufacturing adjacent areas., • Interface with site EHS as needed to ensure adherence to safety and GMP requirements. Reporting & Systems • Submit daily construction reports in Procore, including progress, manpower, safety, and quality observations., • Maintain accurate project logs and documentation for stakeholder visibility. Permitting & Inspections • Coordinate directly with Newport News permitting officials to support required permits and inspections., • Facilitate inspection readiness and on-site walkthroughs as needed. Work Schedule & Project Intensity Project Phases & Hours • Enabling Work:, • Start: June 6 – July 1, • ~60 hours/week (~240 hours total), • Shutdown Window (Peak Intensity):, • Between July 2 – July 19 (key shutdown period), • ~13 hours/day, up to 7 days/week, • Approx. 91 hours/week for ~2 intense weeks, • Post-Enabling / Startup Support:, • ~50 hours/week (~150 hours total) ✅ Estimated Total: ~481–500 hours over ~2 months • Light work during weekdays outside shutdown, • Heavy work during select weekends leading up to and during shutdown Required Experience & Skillset Must-Have Qualifications • 10+ years of construction or industrial project experience, • Strong background in:, • Concrete, • Industrial equipment installation, • Electrical systems and controls (knowledgeable, not performing hands-on work), • Ability to coordinate work safely around live operations, • Strong documentation, inspection, and quality mindset, • Comfortable acting as the central coordinator across contractors, engineers, and owner stakeholders Preferred / Nice-to-Have • OSHA 30 certification, • Experience working within active manufacturing environments, • Prior experience leading or coordinating projects in:, • GMP-regulated facilities, • Food, pharmaceutical, or industrial manufacturing environments, • Experience managing shutdowns or turnarounds Travel, Per Diem & Expenses Info • Per diem: $160/day (up to $190/day depending on lodging), • Covers lodging and meals — contractor will not come out of pocket, • Additional paid days provided for travel to and from site, • All necessary travel and project expenses covered
