Job Description We are seeking a seasoned, hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead the company’s people function across a multi-location, multi-state equipment organization (110 employees). This role partners closely with ownership and senior leadership to ensure effective recruiting, employee relations, payroll and benefits administration, safety, compliance, and culture. This position will travel throughout VA and DE as needed including brief overnight stays. You may work remotely in VA or sit near at one of our offices: Staunton, Danville, Orange, Charlottesville, Blacksburg, etc. Key Responsibilities • Lead full-cycle HR operations including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration., • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, organizational needs, and people strategy., • Oversee employee relations, investigations, coaching, performance management, and terminations., • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations., • Maintain HR policies, employee handbook, and required documentation., • Manage benefits administration, open enrollment, vendor relationships, and employee education., • Evaluate vendors for cost effective benefits, payroll solutions and gather data for pricing, negotiation., • Support training, employee recognition, and development initiatives., • Track and monitor employee (driver) DOT licensure., • Oversee or partner on workplace safety and workers’ compensation programs, as applicable. What Success Looks Like Managers are supported and confident in handling employee issues. Employees experience consistency, fairness, and clear communication. Payroll, benefits, and compliance run smoothly and accurately. HR systems scale with the business without unnecessary bureaucracy. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)., • 5+ years of progressive HR leadership or senior generalist experience., • Experience in multi-location, blue-collar, equipment, construction, manufacturing, or distribution environments., • Strong working knowledge of HR compliance, employee relations, payroll, and benefits administration., • HRIS experience preferred (ADP, Ceridian, Paycom, or similar)., • HR certification is preferred (SHRM CP, SPHR, etc)., • Experience administering safety and OSHA compliance preferred.
