Job DescriptionDescription: POSITION DETAILS: · Job Title: Manager, Operations · Department: Operations · FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt · Reporting To: Director, Regional Operations JOB SUMMARY: The Manager, Operations is the senior branch operating leader accountable for branch-level performance and execution. This role owns the branch operating plan and is accountable for branch financial results, safety compliance, quality, operational execution, workforce stability (attrition), HR compliance, inventory discipline, and the performance of any traveling teams operating out of or within the branch footprint. The Manager, Operations leads through frontline supervisors and branch operations staff and serves as the day-to-day integrator across field execution, scheduling, materials readiness, quality, safety, and customer outcomes. While the Service organization may report to a separate leader, service work performed within the branch footprint is coordinated via a dotted-line partnership to ensure alignment on scheduling, safety/training compliance, quality standards, customer responsiveness, and documentation discipline. This role partners closely with the Director, Regional Operations and functional teams (Finance, HR, Safety, Procurement/Asset, Fleet/Facilities) to enforce operating cadence, strengthen ERP discipline, improve performance visibility, and drive continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Branch Financial Performance (P&L Discipline) · Own branch financial performance against plan: revenue execution, gross margin, controllable costs, and branch contribution to EBITDA. · Support forecasting discipline (workload, labor needs, schedule capacity) and communicate risks/opportunities early to the Regional Director. · Improve margin through labor productivity, job planning discipline, overtime control, and reduction of rework/callbacks. · Ensure job closeout readiness and documentation discipline to support timely billing and reduce billing leakage. Safety Leadership & Training Compliance · Lead a safety-first culture at the branch; enforce all safety policies, PPE requirements, and regulatory compliance. · Ensure required safety training, certifications, and refreshers are completed, tracked, and enforced for branch teams and traveling teams operating within the branch footprint. · Conduct routine field audits and safety observations; coach supervisors and crews to improve compliance and behaviors. · Lead incident response expectations: immediate containment, reporting, investigation support, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions. Operational Execution & Branch Operating Cadence · Run the daily/weekly operating rhythm: production planning, scheduling/dispatch coordination, job readiness reviews, and labor allocation. · Ensure job readiness: scope clarity, materials availability, equipment readiness, staffing, and customer coordination prior to mobilization. · Coordinate traveling teams working within the branch footprint to ensure safe, productive deployment and integration into the plan. · Standardize branch execution routines (planning, site readiness, quality checks, closeout, and customer communication). Quality Ownership & Customer Outcomes · Own branch quality outcomes for all work performed out of the branch, including service work performed in the branch footprint via dotted-line alignment. · Reduce rework, callbacks, warranty exposure, and customer escalations through training, inspection discipline, and SOP adherence. · Resolve escalated operational/customer issues quickly; implement systemic fixes to prevent recurrence. · Ensure consistent documentation standards (checklists, photos, commissioning/turnover documentation where applicable). Workforce Stability, Leadership Development & HR Compliance · Lead and develop supervisors/crew leads; build consistent leadership routines and accountability. · Drive retention and reduce attrition through effective onboarding, training reinforcement, coaching, recognition, and performance management. · Ensure HR compliance at the branch: policy adherence, required training completion, timekeeping accuracy, documentation, and disciplinary processes (in partnership with HR). · Support recruiting and hiring needs; ensure disciplined selection, onboarding, and early tenure performance management. Inventory, Warehouse, Fleet, Facilities (Oversight + Accountable Through Others) · Maintain branch operational readiness by enforcing standards across warehouse, fabrication areas, and yard/stock locations. · Drive inventory discipline: receiving accuracy, storage standards, cycle counts, shrink prevention, and job staging/material accountability. · Ensure truck stock and tool/equipment accountability (where applicable). · Partner with fleet and facilities owners to ensure uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, and safe operating conditions. · Identify constraints (materials, equipment, space, maintenance) and escalate/coordinate resolutions with the Regional Director and functional partners. ERP Discipline, Controls & Performance Visibility · Enforce disciplined use of ERP and operating systems for job setup, labor/time capture, cost coding, materials usage, receiving, and job closeout. · Partner with Finance/shared services to tighten branch controls that reduce billing leakage and prevent invoice discrepancies (documentation, approvals, receiving discipline, closeout readiness). · Maintain branch KPIs/scorecards and drive action plans (productivity, margin, safety, quality, backlog, staffing, inventory accuracy). · Support audit readiness and internal controls consistent with a growth-oriented, multi-site environment. Systems/Tools Expectations: ERP experience required; Acumatica strongly preferred. Familiarity with AP workflow tools (e.g., Stampli) is a plus in driving PO/receiving discipline and invoice accuracy. Regional Interface & MOR Support · Provide accurate monthly performance inputs to support Regional MORs (Monthly Operating Reviews). · Participate in operating reviews and contribute to corrective action planning, owners, due dates, and closure discipline. · Serve as the primary day-to-day operational interface between the branch and the Regional Director of Operations. Continuous Improvement & Standardization · Identify process gaps and implement improvements to increase productivity, reduce waste, improve safety compliance, and strengthen quality. · Deploy SOPs and training reinforcement consistently; ensure adoption by supervisors and crews. · Scale best practices across the branch and support regional initiatives rolled out by the Regional Director. Requirements: REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: · 3-7+ years in operations management (security, construction, facilities, or related field is preferred) · Proven track record of managing teams (field and office) · Experience in scheduling, workforce management, and performance management · Background in physical security, perimeter systems, or related industries focused on: o Access controls o CCTV/Surveillance o Fencing/Gate systems o Alarm systems o Crash rated barriers o Heavy Construction · Familiarity with OSHA and state/local security regulations · Experience implementing and enforcing safety protocols · Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously (installs, service, admin, contracts) · Experience in process improvement, reducing inefficiencies, and hitting deadlines · Experience dealing with commercial and government clients · Ability to handle escalations, service issues, and contract expectations · Strong communication skills · Basic budgeting, cost control, and margin awareness · Strong adherence to KPI tracking · Experience handling crisis and incident management (security breaches, emergency response coordination, incident reporting, etc) TRAVEL REQUIRED: · Local/regional travel to job sites, customer locations, warehouses, fabrication ares, and branch facilities as needed; travel up to 30% WORK ENVIRONMENT: · Primarily office-based with regular time in the field, warehouses, fabrication areas, and at customer locations PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Must be able to lift up to 50lbs; Able to safely navigate active job sites with required PPE
