Job DescriptionJob Title: Sr. Worker's Compensation Specialist Location: Hauppauge, NY Reports To: Sr. Director of Human Resources Employment Status: Full-Time FLSA Classification: Exempt Compensation Range: $100,000 - $125,000 (Based on Experience) Role Overview Own workers' compensation outcomes end-to-end. Serve as the central point between injured employees, external claims partners, and internal teams. Balance employee care, cost control, and compliance while providing visibility into claim costs and trends. This is a hands-on role-not administrative or intake-only-requiring active claim management, strategic influence, and direct employee engagement. Position Summary The Worker's Compensation Specialist is responsible for managing the entire workers' compensation claims process, ensuring timely, accurate, and cost-effective resolution. This role acts as the primary liaison between the organization, Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders to monitor claim progression, control costs, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the position plays a critical employee-facing role by providing outreach and support to injured team members, ensuring appropriate care, clear communication, and timely return-to-work whenever possible. Key Responsibilities Claims Management & Administration • Serve as the primary point of contact with TPAs for all workers' compensation claims., • Manage the full life cycle of each claim, from incident reporting through closure., • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required documentation., • Monitor claim activity, medical treatment, indemnity payments, and return-to-work status., • Proactively identify claims requiring escalation or additional review.Cost Control & Risk Mitigation, • Actively manage reserves, settlements, and claim strategies to minimize financial exposure., • Review and challenge inappropriate charges, treatment plans, or reserve levels with the TPA., • Identify opportunities for return-to-work, light duty, or modified assignments., • Support litigation management and coordinate with legal counsel as needed.Employee Outreach & Support, • Contact injured employees promptly to explain the process and ensure proper care., • Maintain ongoing communication throughout the claim to support recovery and engagement., • Serve as a resource for questions about benefits, medical treatment, and return-to-work expectations., • Partner with HR and Operations to ensure smooth reintegration of employees returning from injury.Reporting, Analytics & Compliance, • Track and report on claim metrics including new, open, and closed claims, reserves, and costs., • Prepare dashboards and reports for HR, Safety, Finance, and leadership., • Monitor claims data to identify patterns, risk drivers, and opportunities for loss prevention., • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and insurance reporting requirements.Collaboration & Process Improvement, • Partner with Safety, HR, and Operations to improve injury prevention and reporting accuracy., • Participate in incident reviews and root-cause analysis to reduce future claims., • Support training and awareness initiatives related to injury reporting and workers' compensation procedures., • Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen claim handling and cost control.Special Projects, • Support insurance renewals, audits, and claims reviews., • Participate in system upgrades or reporting enhancements related to workers' compensation and risk management., • Perform other related duties as assigned.Profile, • Hands-on workers' compensation professional who actively manages claims, influences strategy and timelines, engages directly with employees, and is accountable for outcomes., • Mid- to senior-level experience preferred.Qualifications Education: • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related field preferred.Experience:, • Minimum of 3-5 years in workers' compensation, claims management, or risk management., • Experience working directly with TPAs, insurance carriers, and medical providers., • Strong understanding of workers' compensation laws, claim life cycles, and cost-containment strategies.Skills & Competencies:, • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail., • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage sensitive information with discretion., • Ability to handle multiple claims and deadlines effectively., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with claims management systems preferred.If you are interested in this position and fit the minimum requirements, please submit your resume ASAP and we will be in contact to discuss this role further with you!
