Overview As a Senior Cost Consultant in our Cost and Commercial Assurance practice, you will lead cost and commercial reviews on NEC contracts, applying QS skills and audit techniques to validate costs and strengthen controls. You will blend traditional quantity surveying with digital tooling to boost efficiency and transparency, with hybrid work and client-site exposure. You’ll analyze compensation events, target movements, and disallowed costs, delivering clear findings and actionable recommendations. This role supports major programs and helps drive process improvements across projects. ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute cost and commercial assurance reviews on NEC C/E projects, including open-book validation and discounting disallowed costsSupport payroll/timesheet audits and cost verification across labor, plant, materials, and subcontractors, reconciling samples to recordsEvaluate compensation events, early warnings, and target movements with evidence-based analyses to avoid disputesAssess contract compliance and contribute to recommendations for process, data, and reporting improvementsPrepare findings reports and dashboards for project teams and assist with closing actionsLeverage data and low-code/no-code tools to automate testing and analytics for efficiencyCommunicate outcomes to stakeholders and support resolution actions Key requirementsDegree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related fieldProfessional membership (RICS/CICES or equivalent)Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts (Option C and/or Option E) and payroll/commercial auditsCore QS skills: measurement, estimating, valuation, change control, forecastingProficiency with Excel and data analysis; interest in Power BI or similar; willingness to explore low-code/no-code solutionsStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsExperience with Power Query/Power Automate; basic SQL or Python exposure; sector experience in infrastructurestrong communicationstakeholder engagementconstructive challengeExcelPower BIPower Query
