Job overviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estates Manager to join our busy Electrical Team. Ensuring that the estate is maintained in accordance with all mandatory and legislative requirements and also HTMs / HBNs to provide a safe, secure and clean environment for all patients, visitors and staff. An interest in all engineering disciplines is useful as Healthcare Estates is complex, but a particular skill set in electrical is requiredMain duties of the job- Responsible for the provision and management of effective operational estates services in accordance with current best practise, risk management techniques and in line with Health Technical Memorandums / Health Building Notices etc.- Day to Day management and supervision of operational estates staff within the Estates Department and also external contractors.- Maintaining the infrastructure and critical services to enable patients to be treated in a clean, safe and pleasant environment.- Responsible for managing and complying with all statutory instruments related to all estates infrastructure and engineering services.- To manage contracts, both internal and external, in addition to the directly employed workforce, to ensure the delivery of operational services.Working for our organisationThe Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides hospital and integrated health and social care services to over one million people living across Greater Manchester. You can also read more information about working at the Northern Care Alliance within the attached Candidate Information Pack or by visiting our careers website: specificationSkillsEssential criteria- I.T Skills i.e. understanding use of outlook, Excel, Word and Handheld devices- Ability to achieve demanding tasks and objectives against deadlines- Self-motivating with a drive to develop Estates Services- Ability to work effectively and inclusively with a wide range of peopleDesirable criteria- To be able analyse problems, to think quickly and respond to difficult and contentious situations- The ability to analyse data, technical drawings and complex instructionsQualificationsEssential criteria- HNC/HND in an Electrical or building discipline- NVQ3 in Electrical systems/Buildings Maintenance equivalent experience in a building services/estates management environmentDesirable criteria- Degree in an Electrical or building services discipline- IOSH or similar Health and Safety ManagementKnowledgeEssential criteria- In depth knowledge of Statutory complianceDesirable criteria- Sound knowledge of NHS technical documents, British standards, regulations, legislation and codes of practice- Knowledge and experience of the operation of NHS OrganisationsExperienceEssential criteria- Managing Estates capital and other engineering projects- Writing risk assessments, implementing safe working practicesDesirable criteria- Experience, practical knowledge and skills to manage asbestos in buildingsThe NCA is proud to serve a diverse population and is committed to delivering inclusive, accessible care.
