Senior Buyer – SDA London (Hybrid working available) £60,000 - £70.000 DOE I am currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Buyer to join an established UK retailer based within their Head Office function in South West London. A well established retailer within the home & lifestyle sector is looking for a commercial and forward-thinking Senior Buyer to join their business to manage SDA which is a high profile and important category for the business. As the Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the range strategy to maximise the budgeted financial business targets ensuring the right products are purchased at the correct prices and within the relevant time frames. Reporting into the Head of Buying some of your duties will include. • Responsible for maximising the delivery of the Sales / Margin & Stock turn of your category range to deliver a market beating product and seasonal proposition., • Building & maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, • Sourcing suppliers & negotiating best cost prices to improve margins., • Responsible for buying both Own Brand and Branded ranges., • Ensuring selected product lines achieve availability timeframes., • Deliver an inviting & practical product range that is in line with current trends on design and lifestyle., • Presenting product range & trend information to the Senior Management team, • Monitoring & reviewing competitor information to ensure your product area stays relevant in a changing market., • Working alongside other departments i.e. Marketing, eCommerce & Retail outlets to plan successful future lines., • Managing your category budget, • Analysing sales figures to plan successful future lines. Key requirements for the role. • Proven previous experience as a Senior Buyer / Trader, General Merchandise is essential / electricals / SDA sector is preferred, • Good level of Education, • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels., • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a team., • Able to adapt swiftly in a fast paced, ever changing seasonal retail market., • Excellent numerical ability, with an analytical mindset., • Strong IT skills including MS Office. Working in partnership with the Merchandising team, agree merchandising strategy that drives and delivers right range in the right store; ensuring availability in store; and control of slow-moving stock. Identify and implement new product opportunities that are competitively priced, commercially viable and meet customer needs, driving sales and profitability. Working with the Own Brand team to deliver increased participation and meet agreed strategy and plans. Develop effective internal working relationships with cross functional team members to support and enhance category objectives and performance. Develop build and maintain effective external relationships to enhance the Superdrug proposition and meet customer needs. You will need Proven experience as a Buyer with a track record of success in category management and commercial strategy planning. Experience with a Healthcare buying environment is a plus. Strong negotiation skills. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making. Excellent ability to understand and interpret market information. Range and trade planning experience. Customer focused approach. Data analysis and superb excel skills. To be able to work collaboratively, efficiently and with initiative. Forecast promotional sales and monitor and evaluate performance on a weekly/monthly/annual basis, proactively introducing revised plans and activity as and when required, • Category expert – utilise and continually develop knowledge in category products, competitors and market activity to deliver increased category performance objectives, • Develop new brand concepts, and product development plans for existing Own Brand ranges, • Develop products and packaging appropriate to our customers, the brand and our commercial requirements. Collaborate with the Marketing, CRM , Online and digital teams to develop and implement marketing and promotion plans that are relevant to the category and effectively communicate to the Customer, • Deliver informed Category reviews, incorporating market data, trend data, merchandising review, promotional review, competitor review, customer data and buyer input. Turn Category reviews into the annual Category NPD plan, • Working in partnership with the Merchandising team, agree merchandising strategy that drives and delivers Own Brand advantage whilst managing availability and slow-moving stock, • Work in conjunction with the Supply Chain team to ensure Sales forecasts are adhered to whilst maintaining Own Brand availability and minimising slow moving stock, • Collaborate with International Buying and other European businesses to harmonise product/suppliers, to gain greater efficiencies and share best practice., • Ensure clear communication across the business and ensure appropriate processes in place., • Establish and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
