Role: Estimator Location: Saxilby, Lincoln, Lincolnshire Company: Dowling Civil Engineering Ltd Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 Dowling Civil Engineering Ltd is a leading subcontractor specialising in roads and sewers, housing developments, commercial schemes, and groundworks. We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our commercial team at our Saxilby office. This is a predominantly office-based role with occasional site visits across the Lincolnshire region. Key Responsibilities: • Review and assess tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to identify project scope, risks, and key cost drivers across housing, infrastructure, and commercial schemes., • Conduct site visits to develop an accurate understanding of project requirements., • Prepare detailed and accurate cost plans for labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor packages., • Price both standard groundworks projects and more technical elements typical of commercial developments., • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and evaluate suitability., • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and material price movements to maintain competitive and realistic estimates., • Lead the preparation and submission of compliant tender documents, ensuring timely delivery., • Work closely with procurement on supplier pricing, sourcing, and material strategies., • Support pre-construction planning by confirming scope, logistics, and pricing considerations., • Conduct commercial handovers and provide input on pricing complex variations., • Maintain full compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and legal obligations., • Collaborate with commercial, pre-construction, and delivery teams to ensure seamless project transitions. Candidate Requirements: • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Estimator within groundworks, civil engineering, or wider construction sectors., • Proven capability in estimating across housing, infrastructure, and commercial schemes., • Strong understanding of groundworks, infrastructure, and NEC4 contract principles., • Ability to interpret and analyse technical drawings and specifications., • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Esti-mate software is advantageous., • Excellent communication skills and a high level of attention to detail., • Highly organised, able to work independently and collaboratively., • Full UK driving licence.
