Procurement Manager (Energy & Power) Location: Grimsby Salary: Permanent, bespoke package from £52,000+ Can your commercial acumen power the energy transition? If you want your work to become real assets—EFW plants, HVDC interconnectors, substations and grid‑scale upgrades—this role gives you the scope, autonomy and backing to make it happen. What’s in it for you Real ownership, real impact - You’ll lead sourcing and contracts for high‑value power packages—from turbines/boilers & FGT to HV equipment, converters/transformers, cable systems and HVAC—where your decisions directly drive programme performance. Big‑ticket negotiations - Work with OEMs and specialist EPC/M&E partners on major RFQs and negotiations, shaping terms, warranties, LDs and delivery schedules that stand up on site—not just on paper. Variety without chaos - From rapid site buys to strategic categories and framework agreements, you’ll get challenge and pace without losing process or structure. A team that understands delivery - Engineering, Projects and Operations treat procurement as a partner, not a roadblock. You’ll be solving problems together, not fighting for influence. Growth & backing - CIPS support with mentoring from experienced leaders A package built around you - Choose a package that suits your priorities—maximise salary, increase pension, or opt for an electrical company car. The work you’ll lead Source, select & negotiate - Run competitive RFQs/ITTs (three‑quote where feasible) across EFW, HVDC, protection & control and grid‑scale scopes—closing flagship negotiations that drive measurable savings and stronger terms. Contract & protect - Shape agreements that lock in price, schedule and performance. Manage variations and claims pragmatically, and stabilise critical packages with tighter expediting and on‑site delivery performance. Build suppliers that perform - Develop a strong Approved Vendor base for power categories. Set expectations, track OTIF and quality, and embed supplier scorecards with a simple review rhythm alongside Projects/Ops. Make data matter - Use spend, market and performance data to drive decisions. Report clearly on savings and cycle times, reduce PR‑to‑PO timelines, and highlight risks with actionable mitigations. What you’ll bring You’ll have strong procurement experience in Power, T&D, EFW, EPC/EPCI or similar industrial projects, with the confidence to run competitive events, analyse complex commercial submissions and negotiate terms that hold firm throughout delivery. You combine commercial sharpness with practical, programme‑focused judgement, and collaborate naturally with Engineering, Projects, HSSE and Finance. Ideally, you’ll also bring (or be working toward) CIPS Level 4+, plus solid knowledge of Incoterms and the key OEM/vendor landscape in the electrical and power sector.
