Experienced EHS Professional required for Global manufacturer based at their site in Plymouth. Reporting to the EHS Lead,the successful candidate will play a pivotal role building effective relationships across the Plymouth site to promote a positive culture, ensuring that all plant associates work within a healthy, safe, sustainable, and compliant environment. You will also work closely with the Corporate EHS and Sustainability teams to forge strong relationships and positively represent the plant. Key Responsibilities: To assist all levels of management in implementing and maintaining the standards required of the health and Safety at work act, all other codes of practice and relevant standards. Establish appropriate processes and controls to ensure that the site will maintain ISO14001 certification including leading Environmental Management reviews. Act as the key contact and facilitator for external visits and audits from relevant agencies, ie., HSE, Environmental Consultants, the Environment Agency, and Plymouth City Council. Report internally (plant & Corporate) and externally as appropriate the sites environmental impact including utilities, energy, water, and waste management. Act as the key contact and provider of information in support of any Employers Liability or Public Liability claims Carry out risk assessments on assembly equipment new and old ensuring that the safety and wellbeing of associates is not compromised. Participate in Business Team meetings; provide functional data, support and advice. Create COSHH Risk assessments and maintain the sites COSHH Risk Assessment database. Actioning the findings of COSHH Risk Assessments and working with departmental leads to ensure suitable and sufficient control measures are implemented and maintained. Conduct internal and external EHS audits in conjunction with departmental representatives and tracking any remedial work to completion. Environmental audits to ISO14001 requirements. Utilise data to analyse Near Miss and incidents and identify areas of concern. Identify the need for and carry out Health and Safety training with all associates, both at the recruitment stage and in-line with ongoing job function requirements. Writing and maintaining safety procedures with regards to manufacturing equipment, chemical handling, workplace transport, manual handling and contractor management. Assist with accident, incident and near miss investigations, offering advice and best practice solutions where appropriate. Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all functional legislation. Report unsafe occurrences and incidents to the HSE, EA, and other notifiable bodies as and when required. Assist with the introduction of new machinery, processes, and equipment by confirming all hazards are identified and mitigated and ensuring the continued safety of associates. Attending Blitz activities, waste events, and safety committees as a representative of the EHS department, offering advice where it is appropriate and clarifying legislative requirements. Review and approve the relevant sections of Change Control documentation. Individuals have the authority to execute all responsibilities detailed within their job description and any procedures or processes in C2C or otherwise. Essential Qualifications, Experience and Candidate Attributes Required: NEBOSH, IOSH or NVQ Level 2 H&S Qualification or equivalent. Proven Environmental, Health & Safety experience within a diverse high volume manufacturing organisation. Thorough understanding of legal compliance. Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage a team and comfortable with making tough decisions. Strong IT skills with the ability to learn new software. Adept influencing skills with ability to providing clear objectives, direction and guidance. Beneficial Qualification: BSc or BEng Degree within a Health & Safety Discipline.
