Core Responsibilities Grid Connection Strategy & Planning • Lead the grid connection strategy for all solar PV and BESS projects from early-stage site screening through to commissioning., • Evaluate grid capacity, constraints, hosting potential, and network reinforcement requirements., • Conduct preliminary power system studies (load flow, short circuit, dynamic stability) or manage consultants performing these studies. Interconnection Process Management • Prepare and submit interconnection applications in accordance with utility, DNO or transmission system operator (TSO) requirements., • Act as the primary point of contact with grid operators, utilities, and regulatory bodies., • Track the status of interconnection agreements, deliverables, and milestones., • Review and negotiate technical interconnection terms and technical requirements. Technical Analysis & Compliance • Ensure project designs meet applicable grid codes, standards, and utility requirements., • Evaluate plant performance parameters including reactive power capability, voltage control, frequency response, and ramp rate requirements., • Oversee / manage where appropriate PSCAD/PSSE/DIgSILENT PowerFactory modeling and validation for solar PV + BESS. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with development, engineering, and construction teams to ensure grid requirements are incorporated into project designs and schedules., • Coordinate with equipment suppliers, EPC contractors, and external consultants to ensure grid compliance in inverter, transformer, and BESS specifications., • Identify and mitigate grid-related risks that could impact project timelines or economics., • Support permitting activities where grid-related technical documents are required., • Participate in technical due diligence for financing, M&A, or joint venture partnerships. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)., • 5+ years of experience in grid integration, interconnection, or power systems engineering (renewables experience strongly preferred)., • Solid understanding of power system studies, grid codes, network standards, grid policies, and interconnection processes., • Experience working with DNOs/TSOs such as National Grid and regional equivalents., • Familiarity with solar PV and/or BESS technology, inverters, and plant-level control systems., • Strong communication skills and ability to work with utilities, consultants, and internal stakeholders. Preferred Skills • Experience with high-voltage substation design or protection engineering., • Knowledge of SCADA, EMS/DMS, plant controllers, and grid-forming inverters., • Experience using power system modelling tools (e.g., PSCAD, PSSE, PowerFactory, ETAP)., • Understanding of energy markets, curtailment mechanisms, and grid congestion management.
