Transport Manager RecMat (Part of Fry Group) Gravesend, Kent Full-time | Permanent Overview RecMat (part of Fry Group) is a rapidly growing recycling, logistics, and materials management company, and we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Transport Manager to oversee and develop our expanding transport operation. This is a busy, hands-on role within a fast-paced environment, requiring strong organisation, clear leadership, and the ability to make decisions under pressure. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of materials while maintaining high service standards across multiple projects and customers. This position suits someone who enjoys working in a dynamic operational environment and takes ownership of keeping transport running smoothly day-to-day. Responsibilities • Manage and coordinate all day-to-day transport operations to ensure timely and efficient delivery and collection of materials., • Plan and oversee vehicle scheduling and routing to maximise utilisation and operational efficiency., • Ensure full compliance with all transport legislation, operator licence requirements, and company procedures., • Maintain accurate transport records, including driver hours, vehicle checks, and operational documentation., • Lead, support, and develop drivers, promoting a strong culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability., • Liaise with customers and internal teams to resolve issues quickly and maintain excellent service levels., • Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinate with workshop providers to ensure fleet safety and availability., • Utilise transport management systems and IT tools to track performance and improve operational visibility., • Monitor transport KPIs, fuel usage, and operational costs, reporting performance to senior management., • Proven experience in a Transport Manager or senior logistics role., • Valid Transport Manager CPC (National or International) preferred., • Strong understanding of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements., • Experience using transport management systems and route planning software., • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively., • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)., • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal., • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage a team., • Strong customer service focus and professional approach., • Experience within waste, recycling, construction, or bulk haulage sectors., • Competitive salary (dependent on experience), • Company pension, • Opportunity to grow within an expanding group of companies, • Modern fleet and supportive operational environment, • Long-term career development opportunities
