Twilight Support Worker (18+) – Job Description Working Hours: Monday to Saturday, 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM Role Overview As a Twilight Support Worker, you will provide practical, emotional, and social support to young people aged 18 and over. Working during afternoon and evening hours, you will play a key role in promoting independence, wellbeing, and stability within a safe and supportive environment. The role focuses on building positive relationships, maintaining a structured household, and supporting individuals as they transition into independent living. Key Responsibilities • Assess each individual’s baseline support needs and contribute to the development and review of Individual Support Plans, • Work collaboratively with social workers and external professionals to support pathway plans and personal development goals, • Build positive, trusting relationships through befriending and consistent engagement, • Provide emotional and moral support, particularly during times of difficulty, transition, or crisis, • Support individuals in developing life skills, including accessing education, training, employment, or apprenticeships, • Assist with job searches, CV preparation, applications, and interview readiness, • Encourage and support independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and personal organisation, • Support with housekeeping duties, ensuring communal and personal spaces are clean, safe, and well-maintained, • Promote and assist with budgeting, financial management, and understanding tenancy responsibilities, • Maintain clear boundaries and ensure house rules are followed to safeguard all residents, • Support access to healthcare, social services, and other relevant agencies, • Assist with practical tasks such as completing forms, managing correspondence, and using public transport, • Provide guidance around housing-related issues, including tenancy management, rent, and anti-social behaviour, • Support individuals in accessing welfare benefits and understanding their entitlements, • Signpost and accompany individuals to appropriate services for legal or immigration advice where required, • Residents in the Essex area is ideal but not compulsory. However, you must be able to easily travel to the Basildon area everyday., • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with young adults, • Good communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, • Empathy, patience, and resilience when working with individuals facing challenges, • Ability to maintain professional boundaries while offering consistent support This twilight role requires flexibility, reliability, and a proactive approach to supporting individuals during key hours of the day when engagement, structure, and emotional support are most needed.
