A warm, inclusive specialist school is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). You’ll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, develop communication skills, and engage positively in learning through personalised support. About the Role You will work as part of a skilled and supportive team to: • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and independence, • Support pupils with autism using structured routines, visual supports, sensory strategies and clear communication, • Provide one-to-one and small-group support throughout the day, • Support pupils with emotional regulation, social communication and transitions, • Help create a calm, predictable, and nurturing learning environment, • Work closely with teachers, therapists and specialist staff to ensure consistent support, • Have experience supporting children with autism or other SEN (desirable but not essential), • Are patient, nurturing and calm in your approach, • Can work confidently with pupils who may have sensory needs, communication differences, or behaviours associated with autism, • Are able to follow structured routines and implement visual/communication supports, • Can work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, • Have a genuine passion for helping pupils feel understood, supported and successfulWhy Join This Specialist School?, • Strong SEN leadership with a highly supportive ethos, • Ongoing specialist training and CPD (Autism, sensory needs, communication strategies), • Small classes, excellent resources and a dedicated team, • A child-centred approach where every pupil is valued
