Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Education and working collaboratively with the academic team, the Learning & Teaching Manager plays a leading role in championing excellence in learning, teaching, and assessment across the school. The successful candidate will lead key learning and teaching initiatives, act as Project Manager for identified educational development projects, and contribute actively to committees, working groups, curriculum development processes and validation panels. Working closely with academic teams, they will drive the implementation of effective teaching and assessment practices, advise on academic enhancement, and ensure alignment with institutional priorities, sector standards, and regulatory requirements. The role includes responsibility for coordinating peer observation activity, identifying and disseminating good practice, and supporting academic staff in developing high‑quality, inclusive and engaging pedagogical approaches. In addition, the successful candidate will support the School’s application for Degree Awarding Powers (DAPs) and will lead preparations for the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), including developing, monitoring and reporting on learning and teaching initiatives and associated metrics. Key Purpose of the Role 1. Pedagogy & Assessment • Oversee the enhancement of learning, teaching and assessment practices across programmes., • Oversee the implementation of effective, inclusive, and innovative pedagogical and assessment approaches aligned with institutional strategy., • Work in partnership with academic teams to embed high‑quality teaching, assessment design, inclusive learning practice, and student engagement strategies., • Identify School-wide learning, teaching and assessment needs and lead initiatives to enhance the student learning experience., • Lead the coordination of workshops, staff development activities and dissemination events that promote and share good practice., • Monitor, review and advise on pedagogical and assessment approaches across programmes to ensure continuous improvement and consistency. 2. Learning & Development • Provide academic leadership for staff development opportunities related to teaching, learning, assessment, and digital education., • Manage the School’s peer observation schedule, ensuring good practice is captured, shared, and embedded., • Support academic staff in applying for professional recognition (e.g., Advance HE Fellowship) and engaging with sector standards., • Provide expert guidance on educational technologies and support their effective adoption in teaching practice., • Monitor and evaluate the impact of development activities to inform enhancement. 3. Student Experience • Lead enhancements to the day‑to‑day learning experience by identifying and resolving pedagogical or assessment-related challenges., • Ensure the availability and quality of learning materials, resources, and academic support mechanisms. 4. Learning & Teaching Strategy Implementation • Direct and steer initiatives that support delivery of the School’s Learning & Teaching Strategy., • Prepare key documents, reports, action plans and resources that enable effective implementation across academic teams. 5. Monitoring & Reporting • Develop, monitor and report on key learning and teaching indicators, student engagement data, programme outcomes and enhancement activities., • Oversee reporting required for the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and contribute to evidence required for DAPs. 6. Team Coordination • Supervise and coordinate relevant team members involved in learning, teaching and assessment activities. (Master’s desirable.), • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCert, FHEA/SFHEA) strongly desirable., • Significant experience in learning and teaching within UK Higher Education, including:, • leading or advising on pedagogical and assessment enhancement;, • managing or delivering learning and teaching projects;, • supporting academic staff development., • Experience working in creative disciplines such as Fashion or Design is advantageous., • Strong understanding of UK HE sector expectations in teaching, assessment, quality assurance and employability., • Experience coordinating peer observation, sharing good practice and driving enhancement initiatives., • Ability to analyse learning and teaching data, evaluate impact and report findings., • Excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills., • High level of written and spoken English; Italian an advantage.
