Production Maintenance Shift Engineer 📍 Hatfield (On-site) 💷 £46,000 + £3,600 on-call allowance We’re looking for an experienced Production Maintenance Shift Engineer to join our established maintenance team at our Hatfield Head Office. This is a key role within the MHE (Material Handling Equipment) department, focused on keeping critical systems operating safely, reliably, and to the highest standards. This is a fully on-site role, working five days a week on a rotating shift pattern. Shift Pattern • 06:00 – 14:00, • 14:00 – 22:00 The Role You’ll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and reliability of automated material handling systems in a fast-paced operational environment. Key responsibilities include: • Electrical maintenance of material handling equipment, • Fault finding and testing on PLC and three-phase systems, • Responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance activities, • Providing emergency response for critical equipment failures, • Maintaining machinery in line with agreed safety and performance standards, • Identifying, reporting, and rectifying defects promptly, • Supporting facilities and site activities when required, • Completing timesheets, maintenance documentation, and stock control, • Ordering consumables and managing associated administration What We’re Looking For • Qualified, time-served technician with a strong electrical background, • Proven fault-finding experience in a production or operational environment, • PLC experience (advantageous but not essential), • Experience maintaining automated material handling equipment or similar systems, • Self-motivated, flexible, and a strong team player, • Clear and effective communication skills, • Comfortable working at heights, • Strong practical understanding of health & safety requirements, • Health & Safety training or certification, including high-bay racking access and controlled descent rescue procedures Qualifications • City & Guilds or BTEC in Electrical Engineering, • Basic mechanical skills, • Working knowledge of automated material handling equipment Benefits • Share Save option scheme, • Private healthcare, • Gym membership, • Subsidised meals in the staff canteen, • Pension scheme, • Shopping discounts, • Overtime opportunities paid at:, • Time and a half, • Double time, • Triple time (where applicable)
