Position Summary The Senior Sales Engineer (SSE) at Tightly is a pivotal pre-sales role responsible for driving revenue growth within an assigned territory by providing deep technical and solution expertise. This quota-carrying role focuses on partnering with experienced Account Executives to develop complex opportunities, architect tailored solutions, and close high-value strategic sales of our advanced inventory optimization and supply chain workflow platform. The SSE acts as a trusted technical advisor, engaging C-level executives, operations leaders, and data science teams to demonstrate how Tightly’s platform directly addresses their most pressing inventory challenges. Success in this role requires a profound understanding of inventory management principles, exceptional demonstration skills, the ability to translate complex technical capabilities into business value, and a disciplined approach to supporting the sales cycle from discovery to close. Essential Functions Revenue & Pipeline Management Support • Partner closely with Account Executives to meet or exceed assigned sales quotas within the territory., • Provide expert technical support to build and advance a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities., • Contribute to accurate revenue forecasting by providing technical insights into deal progression and solution fit., • Lead in-depth customer discovery sessions to uncover sophisticated inventory management processes, specific pain points (e.g., impact of market shifts on demand, multi-source replenishment), and technical requirements for integration (e.g., GA4, ERPs)., • Architect and present comprehensive Tightly solutions, demonstrating how our Demand Signals, Supply Order Pipeline, Supplier Workspace, and Bundle Management features address the customer's unique business needs., • Conduct compelling, tailored product demonstrations that highlight Tightly’s differentiators in demand forecasting accuracy, operational efficiency, and capital optimization., • Build and nurture trusted advisor relationships with senior technical and business stakeholders across operations, supply chain, finance, and IT., • Identify and expand opportunities within strategic accounts by proactively showcasing Tightly's evolving capabilities and deeper integration potential., • Serve as a domain expert on inventory optimization, demand forecasting methodologies, and e-commerce supply chain best practices., • Lead technical discussions, address objections, and manage complex solution configurations during the sales process., • Coordinate and execute proof-of-concept evaluations, pilots, and data deep dives with customers, working with Tightly's product, engineering, and data teams., • Respond comprehensively to RFIs, RFPs, and security questionnaires, ensuring Tightly's technical capabilities are accurately and compellingly articulated., • Participate in industry conferences, technical seminars, and customer events as a Tightly subject matter expert., • Collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering, providing crucial market feedback and customer requirements to inform product roadmap development., • Maintain detailed records of technical solutions presented, architectural decisions, and competitive intelligence within the CRM. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Deep expertise in inventory management, demand planning, supply chain optimization, or e-commerce operations., • Proven success selling complex SaaS solutions to enterprise-level clients., • Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including C-level executives., • Strategic approach to understanding business challenges and mapping them to solution capabilities., • Highly comfortable discussing data analytics, forecasting methodologies (e.g., GA4 integration), and API capabilities with IT teams., • Strong understanding of machine learning models and their application in demand forecasting and optimization., • Proactive problem-solver with a strong ability to diagnose customer needs and propose effective solutions., • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. Master's degree preferred., • 5+ years of B2B pre-sales / sales engineering experience in SaaS, supply chain technology, e-commerce platforms, or business intelligence specifically focused on inventory or demand., • Proven track record of supporting and closing significant, complex software deals, consistently exceeding technical contribution goals., • Experience architecting and demonstrating solutions that drive quantifiable business outcomes for customers., • Prior experience with Tightly's core focus areas: demand forecasting, replenishment planning, multi-warehouse inventory, and supplier collaboration., • Familiarity with major e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud) and ERP systems., • Strong understanding of key inventory metrics (e.g., forecast accuracy, days of cover, GMROI, sell-through rate) and their business impact., • Experience working directly with data analytics and business intelligence tools., • Certifications in supply chain management (e.g., APICS CSCP, CPIM).
