Contract: PermanentSalary: Offering up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills, plus £4,500 car allowanceMechanical Project Engineer (Internal title: Project Engineer – Capital Maintenance Project Team) This role is ideal for a collaborative, self-motivated professional who enjoys seeing engineering projects through from concept to completion. You’ll play a key role in delivering Thames Water’s capital programme by managing mechanical engineering projects end‑to‑end across our operational sites and estate. What you will be doing as a Mechanical Project Engineer In this role, you will: • Lead and deliver a portfolio of mechanical projects, typically valued between £100,000 and £1 million., • Manage several live projects at once, while also planning and tendering upcoming work., • Work closely with operations teams to develop innovative, cost‑effective solutions that support efficient, reliable water services., • Coordinate with colleagues, contractors and delivery partners to scope, define and cost project solutions., • Promote and uphold our zero‑compromise approach to health, safety and wellbeing , including conducting monthly audits., • Ensure construction activity follows Thames Water policies, wider industry standards and CDM regulations., • Collaboratively manage delivery partners to keep projects on track and within agreed timeframes., • Maintain compliance with Asset Standards, British & International Standards and professional codes of conduct., • Provide accurate financial forecasting and reporting (VOWD)., • Produce and review key project documentation, including project programmes, risk assessments and method statements., • Oversee commissioning, training and final handover to operational teams., • Ensure all completion documentation—test certificates, O&M manuals, H&S files, as‑built drawings—is provided and accurate., • Experience or a background in Mechanical Engineering ., • Formal mechanical engineering qualifications such as BTEC/HND or equivalent, or relevant industry experience., • Knowledge of Clean Water Processing and/or Wastewater Treatment (desirable but not essential)., • Confidence coordinating multiple stakeholders, including internal colleagues, site teams and contractors., • The ability to work independently, show initiative and deliver high‑quality work., • An understanding of health and safety standards, especially relating to construction and CDM (training will be provided)., • Offering up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills, plus £4,500 car allowance, • 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service. (plus bank holidays), • Contributory pension – Defined Contribution - Maximum of 12% -2x employee contribution., • Personal Medical Assessments – open to all once a year.
