About the Opportunity The Structural Analysis and Assessment Team is looking to recruit a motivated and dynamic Structural Integrity team leader to effectively line manage 6-8 structural Integrity experts. Our capabilities are in demand across the nuclear sector and your role will be to develop and grow these services in support of key client's requirements across the New Build, Generation and Defence industries. You will also be required to continue to develop and deliver a strategy for expanding the team's client base beyond its traditional customers and geographies. As part of the team, you will be delivering important solutions to real problems, meeting the UK and international energy demands and carbon emissions targets. The successful candidate will have a sound structural integrity background, with knowledge of structural design and analysis techniques. The role includes technical oversight and delivery, in addition to line management and winning work. About the Role You will help support Amentum's ongoing or planned infrastructure work around the existing 5 Basin at HMNB Devonport, which is used for active nuclear submarines and will undergo maintenance and support upgrades to ensure its long-term relevance for the Royal Navy's future fleet. This is part of a larger, multi-billion pound, decade-long redevelopment of the dockyard to modernize facilities for both new frigates and nuclear submarines, with the goal of supporting the Royal Navy's operations for the next 30 years. We are operating under flexible working arrangements, with a mixture of office-based and home working environments. Glasgow office would be the preferred base-office location. You will preferably have experience of working in a multidiscipline Engineering Industrial design team. About the Opportunity (MSSI) Material Science and Structural integrity (MSSI) is part of Amentum - a global engineering company. MSSI are looking to recruit a Mechanical Lab Technician at our Birchwood laboratory facilities. Here in MSSI we are developing advanced mechanical testing methods to generate data that ultimately informs big decisions on current and new plant, across the nuclear industry. About the Role The Mechanical Lab Technician will play a key role in supporting the Material Science and Structural Integrity (MSSI) team within Amentum. The position is based in Birchwood, Warrington, working alongside engineers, scientists and researchers focused on materials testing, corrosion assessment, and mechanical evaluation in support of the nuclear industry. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, technically capable and safety-conscious, responsible for assisting in the setup, operation and maintenance of laboratory test equipment. Core duties include preparing and installing metal specimens, conducting mechanical & corrosion tests, collecting & analysing data and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with standard laboratory procedures and quality systems. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a range of mechanical testing techniques, including high-pressure/high-temperature corrosion testing, and to collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams on innovative materials research and structural integrity projects. Responsibilities • Prepare and install metallic test specimens into high-pressure, high-temperature corrosion test rigs following strict safety and test procedures., • Set up and calibrate measuring instruments and sensors (e.g. thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters and load cells)., • Operate and monitor high-pressure pipework systems, pumps and control units to maintain test parameters., • Conduct daily checks, data logging and visual inspections during test operations, ensuring accurate data collection., • Prepare water tanks and chemical test solutions to defined specifications, maintaining correct chemistry to strict parameters., • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory rigs and equipment to ensure reliability and compliance., • Identify and resolve mechanical or instrumentation faults, carrying out basic troubleshooting and corrective actions., • Record and report all test data, observations, and results accurately in lab notebooks and electronic systems., • Dismantle test rigs post-test, recover specimens and assist with post-test analysis and reporting., • Follow all health, safety and environmental protocols, particularly those related to high-pressure systems and chemical handling., • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to support test planning, rig setup, and continuous improvement activities. A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent). This should include maths, and English, plus at least 1 science, technical or engineering subjects A Level in a scientific subject at Grade C or above. Join the team at Gateway Recovery Centre as a Consultant Psychiatrist providing care and treatment for men and women in specialist inpatient, rehabilitation and low secure settings. Gateway Recovery Centre is situated in Widnes, close to Liverpool, Manchester, Chester and surrounding areas. There are excellent transport links, which allows the town to be reachable for those travelling across the Northwest. Gateway Recovery Centre has 72 beds spread across 6 wards.3 wards constitute the women’s service with one acute ward and two level 2 rehabilitation ward for women with high support needs. The other 3 wards provide care to men in specialist rehabilitation unit for men with ASD (Cedar ward), low secure ward (Dove ward) and a rehabilitation ward for older men with complex mental health needs and physical health comorbidities (Ash Ward). The team consists currently of 4.5 consultants, and you will deliver clinical care to a dedicated caseload. You will be supported by a practice nurse and an enhanced GP service to meet patients’ physical healthcare needs. You will have support from a dedicated supervisor and a medical secretarial team. Specialty doctor cover is available for the acute ward. You will have access to excellent CPD, and the support of a large peer group of enthusiastic and high-calibre consultants from varied sub-specialties.
