RR17 - Technical AuthorLocation: Hybrid/office in BristolSalary: £40,000 – £45,000 DOEOverview:First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Technical Author on behalf of one of our clients.Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.Duties and Responsibilities: \n\n • Develop comprehensive documentation that meets our internal standards.\n, • Obtain a deep understanding of our products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content.\n, • Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience including sales, technical and operations.\n, • Develop and maintain databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications.\n, • Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement.\n, • Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments (Sales, Technology and Operations) to understand project requirements.\n, • Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.\n, • Work with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage.\n, • Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that uphold organizational and legal standards, and allow for easy data migration.\n, • Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.\n\n Skills and Qualifications: \n\n • Technical writer proven experience ideally including software development\n, • Experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences\n, • Experience working with technology to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and flow diagrams\n, • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex software\n, • Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle.\n\n Benefits: \n\n • Pension 8% company contribution.\n, • Insurance; Income Protection, Life, Medical and Dental (on completion of probationary period).\n, • 28 days holiday per annum plus Bank holidays.\n, • Travel opportunities; Norway, Singapore.\n
