Your new company You will be joining a well established specialist support service operating across the West Midlands, providing trauma‑informed, holistic support to men experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking, honour based abuse and other forms of interpersonal violence. This trusted provider delivers a dedicated male focused service designed to break down barriers, improve access to help, and ensure that male victims receive the support, advocacy and safety planning they need to rebuild their lives. Your new role As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA), you will provide frontline support to high‑risk male victims of domestic abuse. Working within a multi‑agency framework, you will advocate for your clients, support them to understand their options, and help ensure their voices are heard within the MARAC process.You will: Receive and triage referrals of high‑risk male victims, conducting evidence-based risk assessments (e.g. DASH). Provide tailored advice, emotional support and safety planning through phone and face-to-face contact. Advocate for victims when engaging with police, social services, housing, and other safeguarding agencies. Prepare and present cases at MARAC meetings, ensuring victims' rights, needs and risks are fully represented. Deliver early intervention support that empowers victims to understand the dynamics of domestic abuse and make informed decisions. Facilitate group work sessions to raise awareness and promote recovery. Maintain accurate case records, prepare reports and contribute to safeguarding and multi‑agency meetings. Work closely with internal colleagues and external partners to deliver a coordinated, high quality service. What you'll need to succeed You will bring: IDVA qualification OR experience working within domestic/sexual violence support services. (Desirable) A minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g. health & social care). (Desirable) Experience working with vulnerable adults or children, including identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns. Experience managing complex cases involving issues such as trauma, mental health, substance misuse, or child protection. Strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse, risk assessment, and safety planning. Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice (safeguarding, homelessness, criminal/civil justice, GDPR, etc.). Excellent communication skills, including report writing and multi‑agency liaison. Ability to support victims with diverse needs and overcome barriers (cultural, linguistic, psychological). Ability to work independently, manage your caseload, stay organised, and maintain professional boundaries. Competence with Microsoft Office and case management systems.A driving licence and access to a vehicle are required, and some work outside normal office hours may be needed.
