Job Description for Family Support Worker Family support workers help families with long and short-term difficulties. The main duties of the role would include: - Work one-on-one with vulnerable families to reduce inequalities between those in greatest need and their peers. - Facilitating the delivery of targeted support groups and parenting programmes. - Competently and accurately record observations on case management systems with an awareness that the information you supply may be used in legal proceedings. In addition, candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of: - Working with parents with specific vulnerabilities that impact their child/ren; including (but not limited to); low income, domestic abuse, substance misuse, anti-social and criminal behaviour, and transient families. - Assessing complex safeguarding and welfare issues for children and vulnerable adults. - Support to families with children with additional needs - Respite care for families with children with additional needs - Child development across the ages, with a particular emphasis on children with additional needs, disabilities, specific educational needs, adult and child mental health, and those with protected characteristics as defined by the Equality Act 2010. - Evidence-based practice and the ability to apply this to inform practice. About the Role We are seeking a Registered Nurse ( full time or part time , maximum 4 days a week) with a passion for occupational health to work as a maternity cover contract for 5 months within the construction industry. This role is on a self-employed contract basis, with fortnightly invoicing and payment a week after. Your professional indemnity insurance will be covered by the company. Working as a site nurse in the construction industry is vital in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the workforce by providing high-quality occupational health services. Key Responsibilities Your duties will primarily include, but are not limited to: Conducting routine health checks such as blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, metabolic stats, lung and kidney function screenings Initiating and supporting health and wellbeing campaigns to promote a healthy workplace Providing mental health support and signposting to further resources Delivering first aid and emergency response in the event of workplace incidents Advising on occupational health issues to support the workforce’s health and safety Advise on general health concerns of workers, writing GP referral letters, if needed About You To be successful in this role, you should have: Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with valid NMC registration Experience in occupational health, general nursing, or a related field Strong understanding of health promotion and wellbeing initiatives Confidence in providing mental health first aid and support when needed First Aid and Basic Life Support certification Computer literacy ( must have their own laptop to use) Must be available for induction, handover for a day on the last week of June, able to start work from Monday 30th June. Key Responsibilities: Provide mental health nursing care and support to residents in accordance with NMC standards. Conduct thorough mental health assessments, risk assessments, and develop tailored care plans. Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately. Support residents with behavioural and emotional needs using therapeutic interventions. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers. Promote mental well-being and independence among residents. Monitor and document residents' progress, updating care plans accordingly. Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures and CQC regulations. Provide guidance and supervision to care assistants and junior staff. Participate in training, audits, and quality improvement initiatives. Requirements: Valid NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN). Previous experience in a care home, psychiatric hospital, or community mental health setting is preferred. Strong understanding of mental health conditions and related care approaches. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and compassionate under pressure. Knowledge of CQC standards and care planning documentation. Desirable: Training in MAPA/PMVA or similar de-escalation techniques. Experience working with dementia or older adults with complex mental health needs. Knowledge of safeguarding, MCA, and DoLS regulations.
