    JOB OVERVIEW & JOB DESCRIPTION Sales Supervisor — Carnforth Parade Off Licence Ltd Job Title: Sales Supervisor SOC Code: 7132 Employer: Carnforth Parade Off Licence Ltd Place of Work: 4 Carnforth Parade, Grimsby, DN34 5LA Hours: 37.5 hours per week Salary: £31,200 per annum Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Reporting To: Benny Pullukkara Poulose, Director Job Overview Carnforth Parade Off Licence Ltd is a well-established convenience store and licensed off-licence located in Grimsby, serving the local residential community since 2013. The business is currently entering a significant period of expansion, with the acquisition of a second retail site — Windmill Garage & Premier Store, Saltfleet, Lincolnshire — actively underway, alongside a capital investment programme totalling approximately £1 million across both sites. We are seeking an experienced Sales Supervisor to take full supervisory responsibility for retail operations across the business. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day store operations, supervise and support the sales team, manage stock control and supplier relationships, and ensure that compliance, licensing, and customer service standards are consistently maintained as the business grows to dual-site operations. Key Responsibilities Store Operations & Supervision • Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day retail operations of the store, ensuring smooth, efficient, and compliant running at all times, • Open and close the premises in accordance with operating hours and security procedures, • Oversee till operations, cash handling, and end-of-day reconciliation, • Ensure the store is clean, well presented, and that product displays and shelf layouts are maintained to a high standard, • Monitor customer flow and maintain a high standard of in-store customer experience Staff Management & Training • Supervise, motivate, and support a team of Sales Assistants during shifts, • Produce and manage staff rotas and shift schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage at all times, • Conduct inductions and on-the-job training for new and existing staff, • Identify training needs and performance issues, providing coaching and feedback, • Maintain accurate records of staff attendance, absences, and holiday Stock Control & Supplier Management • Monitor and manage stock levels across all product categories, including ambient groceries, chilled and dairy, beverages, confectionery, tobacco, and off-licence products, • Place orders with wholesale and direct suppliers including Booker Ltd, Parfetts, Freshways/Nijjar Dairies, and Bobby's Foods, • Receive, check, and process deliveries accurately, ensuring quantities and quality meet order specifications, • Conduct regular stock counts and rotation to minimise waste and out-of-stock situations, • Liaise with the Director regarding purchasing decisions, pricing, and supplier negotiations Compliance & Licensing • Ensure full compliance with all off-licence and premises licence conditions, including age verification (Challenge 25) and restricted hours for alcohol sales, • Carry out and maintain records of right to work checks for all staff in accordance with Home Office requirements, • Ensure GDPR, data protection, and employee record-keeping obligations are met, • Oversee health and safety procedures in-store, including safe manual handling, fire safety, and risk assessments Financial & Administrative Tasks • Monitor daily and weekly sales performance and report to the Director, • Manage PayPoint bill payment and energy top-up services, National Lottery terminal operations, and InPost parcel locker coordination, • Maintain accurate administrative records including delivery notes, supplier invoices, staff records, and compliance documentation, • Support the Director with operational planning for the second site acquisition and integration Multi-Site Responsibilities (upon opening of second branch) • Support operational setup and staffing at the Windmill Garage & Premier Store, Saltfleet during the transition to dual-site operations, • Coordinate stock, staffing, and supplier arrangements across both sites as directed by the Director, • Ensure consistent operational and compliance standards are maintained at both locations Person Specification Essential • Minimum 2 years' experience in a retail supervisory or management role, • Proven ability to supervise and motivate a small team in a fast-paced retail environment, • Sound knowledge of stock control, ordering, and supplier liaison, • Strong understanding of retail compliance requirements, including age verification, licensing conditions, and health and safety, • Competent in cash handling, till operation, and basic financial reconciliation, • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with staff, customers, and suppliers, • Right to work in the United Kingdom Desirable • Experience working in a convenience store, off-licence, or petrol forecourt/convenience retail environment, • Familiarity with wholesale supplier networks (e.g. Booker, Parfetts), • Experience with HR software or compliance tracking systems (e.g. Zoho HR), • Knowledge of premises licensing requirements for the sale of alcohol, • Experience supporting a business through a period of expansion or multi-site operations Terms & Conditions Salary: £31,200 per annum Hours: 37.5 hours per week Holiday: 28 days per annum including bank holidays Pension: Auto-enrolment via The People's Pension Notice Period: One month (following probationary period) Probationary Period: Six months Place of Work: Primarily 4 Carnforth Parade, Grimsby, DN34 5LA; travel to second site (Saltfleet) may be required
