About the Role We are seeking a motivated and clinically confident Lead Pharmacist to join our Hospital pharmacy team in Gloucester. This is a hybrid leadership role combining dispensary leadership with ward-based clinical pharmacy services across community hospitals in Gloucestershire. You will play a key role in medicines optimisation, clinical governance, and patient safety across multiple care settings. This role is ideal for a pharmacist who enjoys variety, autonomy, and clinical leadership responsibility while working closely with multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities Dispensary Leadership • Lead and support dispensary staff alongside the Pharmacy Manager to ensure a safe, efficient, and patient-centred service, • Clinically screen and accuracy check prescriptions using strong clinical judgement, • Support and develop ACTs and ACDs through training and ongoing professional development, • Provide clear medicines advice to wards, including interactions, side effects, and optimisation, • Experience with SystmOne is desirable Community Hospital Clinical Support • Lead and develop the pharmacy clinical team (Pharmacists and Technicians), providing feedback and operational insight to support service improvement, • Conduct medicines reconciliation on admission, discharge, and transfers of care, • Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, contributing expert pharmaceutical input, • Deliver structured clinical medication reviews for patients with polypharmacy or long-term conditions, • Identify, resolve, and escalate medication-related risks and clinical issues, • Support safe prescribing practices and medicines governance across sites Person Specification Essential • GPhC registered Pharmacist, • Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills, • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, • Ability to work independently across multiple sites, • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Gloucestershire Desirable • Experience in community pharmacy, primary care, or hospital clinical pharmacy, • Previous exposure to community hospital or intermediate care settings Why Join Fairview Health? • Join a supportive and fast-growing healthcare organisation, • Enjoy a varied role combining leadership, clinical practice, and service development, • Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities, • Make a real impact on patient care across Gloucestershire Interview Process – Trial Days Required Shortlisted candidates will be invited to trial days, including: Dispensary Assessment • Accuracy checking exercises, • Integration into live dispensary workflow Team Interaction Assessment • Communication and professionalism, • Adaptability and clinical problem-solving These sessions ensure mutual fit between candidate, role, and team.
