The Role Working within the Critical Infrastructures Division, you will play a key role in securing new business by providing robust, accurate, and commercially sound estimates for complex M&E projects.You will be responsible for pricing major elements including: • Electrical systems and critical power infrastructure, • Main items of plant, • Mechanical, electrical and fabric subcontract packages Key Responsibilities • Issuing subcontract and material enquiries, • Attending site visits and liaising with clients and supply chain partners, • Reviewing and scrutinising drawings and specifications, • Carrying out detailed take-offs, • Risk and opportunity identification, • Reviewing subcontractor submissions for technical compliance, • Contributing to value engineering proposals, • Inputting into programme and lead time analysis, • Preparing final tender documentation for director sign-off, • Proven experience estimating within Electrical / Building Services / Critical Infrastructure, • Experience delivering successful tenders in data centres, comms rooms, or similar environments, • A strong understanding of electrical systems and construction methodologies, • Minimum 2 years' experience in an M&E estimating role or experience estimating in similar roles, • Experience using estimating software (Trimble advantageous), • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical or Building Services (desirable), • Full UK driving licence, • £60,000 salary with company car, • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, • Supportive and collaborative office environment, • Opportunity to join a growing, ambitious contractor, • Exposure to complex and technically challenging projects, • Strong pipeline of secured and upcoming work If you are an experienced M&E Estimator, looking to specialise further within data centres and critical environments, this represents an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected contractor during an exciting phase of growth. Commissioning Support & Execution Assist with the execution of commissioning and pre-commissioning activities on HV substations typically ranging from 33 kV to 400 kV. Assist with SCADA and control system verification, including indications and remote status checks. Test Equipment & Site Activities Set up, connect, and safely operate commissioning test equipment under instruction. Carry out safe isolation, earthing, and reinstatement of test circuits as directed. Maintain test equipment, leads, and tools in a safe and serviceable condition. Safety, Compliance & Site Discipline Work strictly in accordance with Client Safety Rules, permits, and site authorisations. Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions. Maintain a clean, safe working environment and immediately report unsafe conditions. Never undertake unsupervised work beyond personal authorisation level. Documentation & Reporting Accurately record test results, observations, and measurements on approved test sheets. Report defects, discrepancies, or installation issues to the Commissioning Engineer.
