About the role: As an EC&I Technician, you’ll provide electrical, control and instrumentation support to the plant mainly focussed on planned and unplanned maintenance activities. You’ll also provide some support on modification and replacement projects. Based in Uddingston near Glasgow, Daldowie Treatment Works is one of the largest plants of its type in Europe. For nearly 25 years the plant has focussed on creating wdf pellets from sewage sludge reducing environmental impacts as well as creating a new fuel source replacing the need to burn fossil fuels. Day to day you’ll support the process by providing timely repairs to breakdowns and carrying out planned maintenance activities including instrumentation calibrations. You’ll ensure that all work is managed and recorded correctly to maintain compliance, inspiring safe ways of working across the site, setting a high standard of EC&I engineering activity, and supporting in rolling out new processes, systems, and ways of working to your colleagues on site. You’ll be joining a tight knit, dedicated team based on site, who are also part of a larger group with a wide support network. Who we’re looking for: You’ll need to have experience in solving problems and being a strong communicator to be able to persuade and influence others. You should be educated to at least ONC level in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering and should have served a recognised Apprenticeship. Specifically, you’ll need plant experience in the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical equipment, including but not restricted to, 3 phase motors and associated switchgear, variable speed drives, soft starts, circuit breakers, motor control centres and 3 phase and single-phase distribution systems. You’ll be able interpret schematic drawings, single line diagrams and PLC ladder logic. Ideally, you’ll also have process plant experience in the maintenance, repair, installation and calibration of plant instrumentation and control systems including, but not restricted to, systems for the measurement of temperature, pressure, level, flow, oxygen, and ph. About the role: As part of the Treatment Works Team, the Mechanical Technician will; • Contribute to the Mechanical Maintenance team’s daily operations to maximise plant performance, reliability, and availability., • Deliver project work involving mechanical installation, equipment alignment, and other tasks aligned with the core purpose of the role., • Maintain and promote safe working practices at all times, supporting engineering, compliance, and production activities in line with the Daldowie Business Plan and its operational targets., • Uphold and continuously improve high standards of mechanical engineering performance to ensure optimal plant effectiveness and availability., • Assist the Lead Mechanical Engineer by undertaking project activities related to maintenance compliance, engineering projects, and equipment specification and procurement., • Support compliance with IPPC Permit requirements by maintaining plant and equipment to agreed standards and contribute to the upkeep of ISO 14001 and ISO 9001:2000 environmental and quality management systems.
