Solicitor – Abuse Litigation (Serious Injury / Multi-Track Backgrounds Considered) Harkaye Core Talent is working with a leading UK law firm to recruit a Solicitor to join its specialist Abuse Department. This role is dedicated exclusively to abuse litigation, representing claimants who have suffered physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse, as well as claims against care providers and institutions for failure to protect, failure to care and negligence. The firm welcomes applications from solicitors with experience in Serious Injury or other complex multi-track claimant litigation, who are looking to transition into specialist abuse work. Full training and support will be provided to develop expertise in this area. The successful candidate will take over an existing caseload of sensitive and complex matters and will work within an experienced, highly supportive team. The role offers hybrid working, with remote flexibility and regular attendance at the Manchester office. Key Responsibilities • Manage a caseload of pre-litigated and litigated abuse claims, including multi-track matters, • Act on behalf of claimants in cases involving historic and non-recent abuse, • Handle claims against individual abusers and vicariously liable institutions, • Manage claims involving the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA), • Address complex legal issues including Limitation, Causation and Quantum, • Conduct matters in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules and relevant protocols, • Maintain accurate file management, diaries and case progression in line with firm procedures, • Ensure compliance with Legal Aid requirements, Lexcel standards and internal policies, • Deliver exceptional standards of client care, recognising the highly sensitive nature of abuse work, • Supervise and support an assistant where appropriate, • Participate in regular case reviews and performance reviews, • Contribute to the continued development and reputation of the Abuse Department About You • Qualified Solicitor with up to 6 years’ PQE, • Experience in abuse litigation, serious injury, or other complex multi-track claimant work, • Strong litigation experience is essential, • Experience of Legal Aid–funded work is advantageous but not essential, • Demonstrable ability to manage complex, sensitive cases, • Highly empathetic, emotionally intelligent and client-focused, • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, • Confident working independently while contributing positively to a specialist team, • A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within abuse litigation What’s on Offer • Hybrid working with genuine flexibility, • A dedicated, experienced and supportive Abuse team, • Structured training for solicitors transitioning from Serious Injury or multi-track litigation, • Long-term career development within a highly respected specialist department, • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact for vulnerable clients About Harkaye Core Talent Harkaye Core Talent is a specialist legal recruitment consultancy partnering with law firms across the UK to deliver precise, strategic and people-led hiring solutions.
