Mechanical Project Engineer (Infrastructure) Location: Kettering Project Type: Healthcare Infrastructure Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team for a major infrastructure project at a key healthcare facility in Kettering. This role is focused on the delivery of complex mechanical systems essential to the continuous and safe operation of hospital environments. Key Responsibilities * Technical Management: Supervise the installation of mechanical services including HVAC, medical gases, chilled water systems, and plant room fit-outs. * Design Coordination: Review technical drawings and specifications to ensure they align with the project's infrastructure requirements and clinical needs. * Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site inspections to ensure all mechanical works meet high-quality standards and adhere to HTM (Health Technical Memoranda) and HBN (Health Building Notes) guidelines. * Subcontractor Liaison: Manage mechanical subcontractors on-site, ensuring works are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. * Procurement & Planning: Coordinate the procurement of long-lead mechanical equipment and manage detailed programmes of work to minimise disruption to hospital operations. * Commissioning: Oversee the testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing hospital infrastructure. * Health & Safety: Maintain a strict health and safety culture, ensuring all mechanical activities comply with site-specific risk assessments and method statements. Requirements * Qualifications: A degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related Building Services discipline. * Experience: Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer, specifically within healthcare or high-occupancy public infrastructure projects. * Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of mechanical plant, pipework systems, and ventilation within a clinical setting. * Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with clinical staff, estates teams, and external stakeholders. * Software Proficiency: Competent in the use of AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), and project management software.
