VACANCY Role: TECHNICIAN SAFETY PRODUCT TESTING Location: Kettering, UK Salary: up to £26,000 Hours: 37.5 hrs per week Ref: 23/26 We have a full-time vacancy for a Technician to work in our Safety Product Testing department. About The Department SATRAs Safety Product Testing team conducts testing on a wide range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a global customer base, to ensure products meet a minimum level of protection. PPE tested includes gloves, fall protection, motorcycle garments, high visibility clothing, eyewear, helmets, hearing protection, chainsaw garments, kneepads, sports protection, plus many more. The department consists of a number of accredited laboratories, housing a range of test equipment and machines, used by the team to test the physical properties of PPE against International and European standards. Results from testing are reported to customers and used for their product development or to apply for CE or UKCA certification. The Safety Product Testing team consists of around 25 multiskilled technicians, technologists and other support staff, arranging and conducting the testing of PPE. About The Role As a Technician within the Safety Products Testing team, you will be required to carry out the following: Undertake routine physical testing of PPE in accordance with International and European standards at SATRA and at customer facilities. Operating test equipment to generate results which are recorded on paperwork and electronic results sheets in preparation for transfer to test reports. Preparation of test samples prior to testing Maintain tidiness of laboratory Maintain sample storage Assist Technologist when dealing with customers during visits Training will be provided for all aspects of the role where required About You Essential GCSE Level C minimum in Maths, English, Science Good computer skills Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams & Outlook Motivated particularly while carrying out repetitive tasks Reliable Good time management and scheduling skills Ability to work alone or as part of a team High level of written and oral communication Attention to detail and thoroughness Enthusiasm Desirable Experience of working in a lab Experience with PPE Experience of using Outlook and Excel A good understanding of the SATRA quality system Willing to learn develop, adapt and grow Benefits Include Staff benefits include 25 30 days (service related) annual leave; life assurance; a group personal pension plan; income protection; free parking; flexible working hours.
