Senior Operations Technician\n\nLocation: Nottingham, Nottinghamshire\nSalary: £45,000 – £50,000 + Benefits\nJob Type: Full-Time | Permanent | Shift-Based (24/7 Operation)\nIndustry: Power Generation / Process\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are recruiting for a Senior Operations Technician to join a Power Generation Facility.\n\nThis is a senior hands-on role responsible for supporting the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the plant, ensuring high levels of availability, performance, and environmental compliance.\n\nYou will play a key role in plant operations, fault finding and mentoring junior team members within a 24/7 process environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Support the safe and efficient operation of the Power Generation Facility.\n\n * Operate and monitor plant systems using DCS/SCADA\n\n * Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards and Environmental Permit\n\n * Respond to plant faults, alarms, and carry out first-line fault diagnosis\n\n * Assist with start-up, shutdown, and emergency operations\n\n * Monitor and adjust plant performance to optimise efficiency and output\n\n * Apply and support Safe Systems of Work (permits, RAMS, risk assessments)\n\n * Assist with plant isolation for maintenance activities\n\n * Contribute to incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis\n\n * Participate in daily planning and coordination of operations and maintenance\n\n * Provide guidance and support to junior operators/technicians\n\n * Maintain high standards of housekeeping and operational discipline\n\n * Contribute to continuous improvement and plant optimisation initiatives\n\nSkills & Experience\n\n * Recognised engineering qualification or apprenticeship\n\n * Experience in an EfW, Biomass, Power Generation, or heavy process environment\n\n * Working knowledge of DCS / SCADA systems\n\n * Understanding of boilers, steam systems, and combustion processes\n\n * Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work / permit systems\n\n * Basic understanding of electrical systems (LV/HV) (advantageous)\n\n * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills\n\n * Good IT skills (Word, Excel) for reporting\n\n * Ability to work effectively within a shift team\n\nWhat’s in it for You?\n\n * Competitive salary + benefits package\n\n * 25 days holiday + bank holidays\n\n * Employee Benefits\n\n * Ongoing training and development opportunities\n\n * Opportunity to work in the growing EfW / renewable energy sector\n\nAdditional Information\n\n * Shift-based role within a 24/7 operation (including weekends and public holidays)\n\n * Candidates must have the right to work in the UK
