CNC Machinist (Lathe) Gloucester (On-site) £40,000 – £45,000 + Benefits Mploy Group are working with a well-established and growing precision engineering business, supporting them in the search for a skilled CNC Machinist (Lathe) to join their production team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business operating at the sharp end of manufacturing, producing high-precision components for a range of demanding industries. The Role As a CNC Machinist, you’ll be responsible for the setup, operation, and optimisation of CNC lathe machines, ensuring components are manufactured to exacting standards. You’ll play a key role on the shop floor, balancing quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities • Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision-engineered components, • Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions, • Load, edit, and run CNC programs (Fanuc & Mazatrol controls), • Make tool offsets and minor program adjustments where required, • Select and install appropriate tooling, inserts, and fixtures, • Monitor machining processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and consistency, • Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, and gauges, • Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues to minimise downtime and scrap, • Carry out routine machine maintenance and report faults, • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with H&S standards, • Work closely with engineering and quality teams to improve processes About You • Proven experience operating CNC lathes in a precision engineering environment, • Experience with Mazak and/or Ledwell machinery, • Strong knowledge of Fanuc and Mazatrol control systems, • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings confidently, • Experience machining metals such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminium, • Competent using precision measuring equipment, • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability, • Able to work both independently and as part of a team, • A proactive approach to quality, safety, and continuous improvement Desirable: • Experience with Solid Edge CAD software What’s on Offer • Competitive salary up to £45,000, • Stable, long-term opportunity with a growing engineering business, • Modern workshop environment with advanced machinery, • Supportive team and strong engineering culture, • Opportunities for progression and skills development If you’re a CNC Machinist looking to step into a role where your skills are genuinely valued and you can make an impact, we’d love to hear from you
