Job Title: Aircraft Fitter/ Mechanic Reports to: Senior Licensed Engineer Location: RAF Brize Norton Atlantic Aviation Group AAG Defence Services is a MAA Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) based in RAF Brize Norton, UK. We work in partnership with Airbus Aerospace & Defence to supply dedicated MRO services, including heavy and line maintenance, to the Royal Air Force’s fleet of A400M Atlas aircraft. Our committed and flexible team of over 100 engineers and management are based at RAF Brize Norton in a dedicated 24,000m², three-bay facility designed to optimise the maintenance of the aircraft. AAG Defence Services is a subsidiary company of Atlantic Aviation Group. General Responsibility As an Aircraft Fitter you will be responsible for Maintenance, Repairs and Modifications to the aircraft. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: • Responsible for the maintenance of the aircraft and safe use of ground equipment, • Can accurately navigate and interpret aircraft maintenance documentation., • Carry out aircraft modifications and light structural work if required., • Compliance with the organisational policies and procedures detailed in the Atlantic Aviation Group Defence services (AAG DS) MOE and supporting manuals, • Identifying and rectifying existing and potential unsafe conditions, • Maintaining the work environment in a clean and safe manner using a “clean as you go” approach, • Complying with company Safety Management System (SMS) occurrence reporting procedures, • Complying with the AAG DS safety policy, • Complete aircraft paperwork to a high standard, • An awareness of COSHH, Working at height and Manual handling safety requirements, • Actively embrace a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture Candidate Requirements • Must currently have eligibility to live and work in the UK, unfortunately sponsorship cannot currently be offered., • Must hold a valid aircraft standards-based qualification (Apprenticeship/NVQ level 3) or aircraft related academic qualification/traineeship with a minimum 4 years recorded experience or be able to satisfy AAG DS Training / Maintenance management team., • Current Human factor initial and refresher, EWIS and SFAR 88 certificate, • Knowledge of aeronautical regulations, • Must have the right to live and work in the United Kingdom, • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, • Be able to successful complete MOD security clearance Desirable Criteria • Experience on Airbus, Propeller or Wide body Aircraft, • Knowledge of Military Aviation Authority (MAA) MRP Part 145 regulations, • Have good communication skills, both verbally and written, and interpersonal skills, • A proven ability to work as part of a team, • Be able to work on their own initiative and demonstrate leadership skills, • Possess proficient organisational skills and an ability to work in an efficient manner, • IPAF/MEWP familiarisation Typical Working Conditions • Primarily based in Brize Norton however travel may be required, • Shift will be 5, 5, 4-day shift 0700-1900, • PPE is provided by AAG DS and its use is mandatory in the performance of your work. About the role The Head of Technical is a key member of the Senior Management Team, responsible for delivering Year 1 of our 5-year business plan in our offsite timber frame manufacturing operation. Hybrid role with time at any of our three offices - Witney Oxfordshire - Westhill Aberdeen - Plains Scotland. The role focuses on leading customer excellence from securing a project through to commencement of operational delivery on site. It requires the ability to lead a team to deliver exceptional customer service and technical standards, while using technical expertise to ensure technical accuracy to meet both customer and business objectives. This role is responsible for leading: • Pre-Construction: Leading the technical co-ordination and delivery of projects, forecasting programmes for accuracy and on time delivery., • Structural Engineering: Ensuring structural integrity and compliance in line with Building Regulations and project plans, • Product Governance: Managing technical standards, delivery of new innovations, regulatory compliance and management of all product third party certifications and accreditations. Key Responsibilities • Ensure accuracy and clarity of project information with customers and design teams, ready for delivery to our design office for manufacturing design., • Use data and insights to manage and deliver KPIs for year 1 business plan, collaborating with other department heads and reporting progress in delivery of business plan goals., • Deliver customer excellence through building strong customer relationships, listening to needs and working with the team and across departments to deliver required results., • Ensure appropriate and efficient resourcing of the department, within budget and in place to meet business plan goals and targets., • Manage all design and scope changes throughout the pre-construction phase to identify, price and agree with customers, in conjunction with the commercial and estimating teams., • Lead a team to provide support, guidance, knowledge and development, all focused on exceptional customer delivery., • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies during the pre-construction phase., • Maintain Business Management Systems (BMS), technical specifications, and system resources., • Deliver clear and concise product information to support customers and internal teams., • Contribute to budget setting, resource planning, and strategic development of the pre-construction function. Essential technical expertise • In-depth knowledge of timber frame construction and current building regulations., • Proven leadership of technical teams, delivering excellent customer experience and effective project handovers., • Understanding of timber frame manufacturing and on-site installation processes., • Experience of managing remote teams to deliver exceptional results., • Strong planning capability with logical thinking skills., • Confident, fluent communicator with strong influencing and interpersonal skills., • Ability to use business metrics to drive performance., • Process-oriented with a high level of rigour and adherence to core procedures. About you An accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). Alternatively, a degree with some numerical or technical focus is advantageous. Relevant HND subjects include building/construction, urban and land studies, civil engineering and structural engineering. Adequate commercial experience from a Tier 1 Main Contractor.
