Summary: VES is looking for a Product Design Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen, Scotland location. This person will be responsible for performing engineering tasks within the established product development process following industry best practices performing simple calculations for statics and dynamics problems, material selection, and tolerance studies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Reviews and analyzes customer specifications, operational requirements, task statements, standards, and other documentation to determine engineering requirements. Supports current product lines by implementing improvements as needed. Modifies existing products to meet internal or external customer requirements. Creates product or system layouts for fit, form and function checking. Prepares detailed drawings and schematics. Completes design reviews. Plans and develops experimental test programs. Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Regularly develops conceptual design and new products. Coordinates the manufacturing of prototype products or systems. Monitors the performance of products through analysis of returned products. Provides support and investigates product quality related issues. Troubleshoots, performs root cause analysis, and develops potential solutions. Initiates and follows up on corrective action when required. Provides technical support to sales and operations as required. Assists in the delivery of product technical data packs, reports, technical bulletins, and updates. Maintains the Engineering database and documents designs and their associated information. Assists with the preparation of patent disclosures. No supervisory responsibility, but may serve as a resource to others with less experience. May check the work of less experienced team members. Reports to assigned Engineering leader. Typically receives detailed instructions only on new assignments. Expected to work with only general supervision. Determines action to be taken within limits of standard practice and authority. Understanding of fundamental design tools such as threaded connections, seals, plated surfaces, heat treating, structural welding, fundamentals of gear drives, kinematics, etc. Understands the key limitations and advantages of manufacturing the product in different manners. Understanding of the theoretical calculations as they apply to the design of the product. General knowledge of typical discipline-specific drawings and documents, their content, and how they relate to each other. Work Experience Typically, at least four years of related experience. Our client is a North Sea operator currently recruiting for the position of Platform EPRD Lead – Decommissioning, based in Aberdeen. Leadership: • Responsible for leading a team to deliver contract management and Workstream Leadership of all North Sea Platform EPRD, plus joint responsibility for the overall success of all decommissioning activities, working with the wider team to ensure decommissioning campaigns and activities are executed safely, within budget and on schedule., • Communicates clearly key messages to support delivery of Platform EPRD, including a Vision for success, clarity on plans and progress, early alerts for potential challenges, and clarity on costs, opportunities and threats., • Work together with contractors, verifiers, all company functions and the decommissioning department to promote and ensure a cohesive and collaborative team environment in which to deliver successful projects., • Line manage decommissioning resources within their team and work with the Decommissioning Superintendent to support development of personnel within the decommissioning department., • Ensure compliance with the Decommissioning Programme and any other regulatory interfaces on the project., • Take accountability for successful Platform EPRD delivery and joint accountability for the success of all International Division Decommissioning projects and activities., • Ensure the Platform EPRD Workstream is led through the PDP process, ensure full workstream cost estimating, annual budgeting, effective cost reporting, risk management, overall project planning & milestones, leads scenario planning, compile resource profiles, agree project objectives and metrics, maintain robust management of change, ensure an effective evaluate phase(s) is conducted so learnings can be taken forward., • Leads the Contract Management for the Platform EPRD Workstream, working closely with SCCO and the Decommissioning Superintendents, ensuring all contracts are managed to deliver safe, environmentally responsible and value adding activities in line with the contract and commercial agreements, including, Platform EPRD Removals Services Contracts (RSC), Marine Warranty Surveyors (MWS) and all other support services required for Platform EPRD delivery., • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally, with key contractors to provide foundations for dealing with challenges effectively, such as conflict management, change management, potential variations etc., • Responsible for working closely with the SHE Team to ensure all regulatory requirements are met, including the Decommissioning Programme, permits, licences, acknowledgements, notifications and consents (PLANC), environmental waste accounting and legacy requirements., • Establish active and consistent risk (threat and opportunity) management throughout all decommissioning phases and ensure clear communication to the business, identify where escalation is required., • Responsible for effective turnaround and close-out of Contractor issued Technical Queries, efficient resolution of any Contractor Variation Order Requests and co-ordination of the Management of Change, • (MOC) process. Effective recording and future implementation of all lessons learned., • Ensure delivery of safe, efficient and compliant recycling and disposal activities at nominated disposal yard(s). Responsible for reporting and evidence gathering necessary to complete the Decommissioning Programme close-out process., • Ensure effective and value-adding reporting is in place, including financial control and reporting.
