They have a selection of long standing clients and are extremely busy. They are a medium to large size firm who are part of a larger group of companies. They work on a range of projects which includes residential for the public and private sectors including large scale regeneration, new build affordable housig, student accommodation, high value private homes, schools, universities and healthcare projects. You will be a Project Manager with a Degree or MSc in Construction Project Management or similar Built Environment subject. You may already be chartered with the RICS / CIOB or you may be either keen to work towards becoming chartered or already working towards chartership and support will be given to help with training towards APC. About the roleMSE’s Press Team helps ensure consumers across the UK can access MSE’s trusted personal-finance guidance. We generate more than 2,000 pieces of media coverage each month, using press activity to help people understand their rights, make informed financial decisions, and improve their financial wellbeing. As Press Officer, you will support a busy press office across print, digital and broadcast media. You will help respond to the news agenda, develop proactive media opportunities, and amplify MSE’s editorial work, investigations, and campaigns. This is an early-career role, suited to a recent graduate or someone in their second role who is looking to build hands-on experience in a high-profile national press office. Reporting to the PR Manager, you will be supported to develop your media judgment, writing, journalist relationships and understanding of consumer issues. How you’ll spend your day:· Supporting the running of a busy, reactive press office by managing and responding to enquiries from print, digital, and broadcast media. · Drafting press releases, media lines and reactive comments in response to consumer issues in the news. · Monitoring the media landscape to identify proactive opportunities for MSE to provide comment. · Maintaining media distribution lists and building strong working relationships with journalists. · Supporting MSE’s 11 spokespeople, including Martin Lewis, to identify and prepare for relevant media opportunities, working with the PR Manager on high-profile or complex requests · Working closely with the News, Campaigns and Social teams to coordinate and amplify investigations, editorial content, and campaigning activity. · Keeping up to date with PR best practice, ethics and developments in the media landscape What value you’ll bring to the role· A genuine interest in a career in public relations and the UK media landscape. Senior Mechanical Project Manager – London The Company Our client is an established mechanical building services contractor delivering a varied portfolio of projects across London and the surrounding areas. Their work covers a broad range of mechanical services including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, air conditioning and associated building services installations, with projects typically ranging from approximately £250k through to £5m in value . The business has a strong pipeline of work and is continuing to grow its London delivery team. They are now looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager who can take genuine ownership of projects technically, commercially and operationally. This is not simply a site-management position with responsibility for coordinating labour and subcontractors. The successful individual will be expected to understand the complete project lifecycle, retain control of design and delivery, identify problems early and confidently drive projects through to completion. The Role You will take responsibility for the successful delivery of mechanical building services projects across London. Depending on the project, this could involve managing a number of smaller schemes, one or two projects in the £2m-£4m range , or taking responsibility for a larger mechanical package approaching £5m . The important distinction is the level of ownership. You will be expected to understand what is happening technically, commercially and operationally across your projects and to actively manage the process rather than simply report progress. That includes understanding value-engineering opportunities and being capable of proposing practical alternatives rather than simply passing technical issues back to the consultant. Experience across different building types would therefore be particularly valuable. Someone may have 20+ years within the mechanical industry, but experience progressing through pipefitting, plumbing and site supervision does not necessarily provide the same exposure as somebody who has spent a substantial period genuinely managing projects. The distinction they are looking for is somebody who has personally been responsible for: Design management Programme Procurement Commercial decisions Client relationships Subcontractor performance Technical problem-solving Project risk Delivery through to commissioning and handover In short, someone who has run projects , rather than predominantly managed the site element of them. Why This Role Exists The business has a strong orderbook and a number of projects either starting or progressing through pre-construction and delivery across London. They are strengthening the team with an experienced individual who can take responsibility for their own projects and become a key part of the London operation. They need somebody senior enough to be trusted with the complete delivery process. That means understanding the technical detail, appreciating the commercial consequences of decisions, controlling the programme and being confident enough to represent the company directly with clients, consultants and main contractors.
