Transport Manager Gillingham Up to £50,000 (depending on experience) 37.5 hours per week + 1 hour lunch (office-based) We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Transport Manager to oversee and lead their logistics and distribution operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established business in a fast-paced operational environment. As Transport Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full transport and goods in/out function, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods across the UK and into the EU. You will play a key role in driving operational performance, maintaining compliance, and leading a high-performing team. Key responsibilities include: Managing day-to-day transport operations, ensuring timely delivery and collections Planning delivery schedules, vehicle routing, and logistics coordination Overseeing goods in/goods out processes, stock movement, and inventory control Managing export logistics to EU destinations, including customs and documentation Monitoring performance, service levels, and transport costs, driving efficiencies where possible Liaising with freight forwarders, hauliers, and third-party logistics providers Leading, developing, and managing the transport and warehouse/logistics team Ensuring full compliance with transport regulations, safety standards, and internal processesAbout You To be successful in this role, you will have: Proven experience in a Transport Manager, Logistics Manager, or similar role Strong understanding of transport operations, logistics coordination, and compliance requirements Experience managing goods in/out processes and stock control Knowledge of EU export procedures and customs documentation Previous people management experience, with the ability to lead and motivate teams Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills Good IT skills, including Microsoft OfficeDesirable: CPC qualification or equivalent Experience within manufacturing, production, or distribution environments Familiarity with ERP/WMS systemsBenefits On-site parking 3 days company sick pay Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Salary sacrifice schemes (vehicle & cycle to work) Standard pension schemeThis is an exciting opportunity for a driven and commercially aware Transport Manager looking to make a real impact within a growing and dynamic organisation.
