Director of Events: Sport World Championship The Director of Events leads the planning, coordination, and delivery of all World Championship race weekends worldwide. This role oversees the Event Operations department, managing the team responsible for delivering every aspect of each event to the highest operational, safety, and Brand standards. The position carries full accountability for event delivery quality, timelines, and budgets. It combines strategic involvement with hands-on operational leadership, ensuring the Event Operations team, suppliers, and stakeholders are aligned to deliver consistent, world-class events across the Championship season. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Event Delivery Lead the delivery of all World Championship race weekends and ancillary events. Manage and develop the Event Operations team, setting clear objectives and maintaining high delivery standards across all projects. Oversee event budgets from initial forecasting to daily management and reporting, ensuring all events are delivered within budget. Provide direction and operational support across all departments to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution. Lead the procurement of all event services from tender through to contracting and delivery oversight. Stakeholder and City Engagement Build and maintain effective working relationships with host cities, government authorities, and local agencies involved in event delivery. Lead on permitting and compliance processes across land and water operations, ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements are met. Work closely with the Host Cities team to conduct venue assessments, site visits, and operational feasibility reports to support venue selection and planning. Cross Team Working Work closely with the Commercial and Partnerships team to integrate partner deliverables and activations into event plans. Support the Head of Hospitality to plan and implement the VIP Club hospitality programme. Collaborate with the Marketing team to align promotional activity, fan engagement, and brand presentation with operational delivery. Provide input to improve commercial value and identify opportunities to generate revenue from event infrastructure and on-water activities. Logistics and Operations Oversight Lead global logistics and freight movements for the Championship, covering all equipment, team assets, and supplier shipments between race venues. With the freight partner to ensure all shipments are completed on time and in compliance with customs and import/export requirements. Oversee the documentation, scheduling, and coordination of all logistics operations. Team and Culture Build and maintain a high-performing Event Operations team through clear leadership, mentoring, and hands-on support. Promote a professional, collaborative, and accountable working culture across the department and wider operations. Ensure all team members understand their responsibilities and are equipped with the tools and information to deliver successfully. Experience Minimum 10 years experience in live event management, ideally within sport, entertainment, or large-scale touring productions. Experience managing multimillion budgets, supplier contracts, and multi-disciplinary teams. Strong understanding of logistics, permitting, and stakeholder engagement in international environments. Demonstrated success working with rights holders, promoters, and government agencies. Skills and Attributes Communicate well and be able to ‘read the room’. Calm, decisive, and solutions-focused. Motivated to deliver high-quality, safe, and well-executed events. Willingness to travel internationally (10 event weeks plus additional visits) and work flexibly around event schedules.
