About the Role As a Residential Support Worker at Spire Assist, you will provide day-to-day care, emotional support, and practical guidance to young people in a residential environment. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, implementing and maintaining personalized care plans, supporting education and independence skills, and helping to create a safe and stable home atmosphere. This role involves direct contact with children and young people who may have experienced trauma or have complex needs. You will be expected to adhere to safeguarding, medication, and data-protection procedures at all times. Key Responsibilities Work with the team to implement and review care plans, behavior support plans, risk assessments, and health plans. Provide person-centered support, including personal care, emotional support, and encouragement with life-skills and routines. Administer medication safely and complete accurate records. Build positive relationships with young people based on trust and consistency, acting as a key worker when needed. Keep accurate written and electronic records, contribute to reports, and attend reviews and meetings. Supervise and support young people on trips, appointments, and community activities; attend meetings with schools, social workers, and healthcare professionals. Participate in training in safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, de-escalation, and first aid, and maintain mandatory learning. About You — Person Specification We are looking for someone who demonstrates clear, compassionate communication and strong listening skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly. Patience, empathy, and resilience are essential when supporting children with complex needs or challenging behavior. Good written skills and basic IT literacy for record-keeping and reporting are required, along with an understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries. Calm, confident de-escalation skills and the ability to follow behavior management plans are crucial. Qualifications & Experience Essential: Minimum 1 year’s experience in a similar residential or supported setting working with children or young people. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and right to work in the UK. Desirable: Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Health & Social Care or NVQ Level 3 for Residential Childcare or equivalent (or working towards it). Training or experience in trauma-informed practice, autism/ADHD awareness, positive behavior support, and first aid.
