Job Description Welder / Fabricator – 1st Shift (7:00 AM–4:00 PM) Location: Buffalo, NY Schedule: 1st Shift | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Monday–Friday Employment Type: Full-Time | Overtime Available Industry: Industrial Manufacturing • Structural Steel • Modular Fabrication Job Overview GTI Fabrication is hiring an experienced 1st Shift Mechanical Welder / Fabricator for our industrial manufacturing operations in Buffalo, NY. The Welder/Fabricator will fit, tack, weld, assemble, and repair steel components, structural assemblies, and modular fabrication parts using MIG/GMAW, TIG/GTAW, Stick, and other welding processes in a high-paced production environment. Ideal candidates have experience in manufacturing welding, structural steel welding, blueprint reading, mechanical assembly, and industrial metal fabrication. Daily ResponsibilitiesWelding & Fabrication • Fit, tack, and weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and low-alloy steel using MIG/GMAW, TIG/GTAW, and manual welding, • Weld assemblies, sub-assemblies, brackets, channels, angles, and structural components per drawings, • Prepare and finish welds using grinders, saws, and welding tools, • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, detail drawings, and fabrication schematics, • Measure, cut, and layout materials using calipers, squares, tape measures, and fabrication tools, • Fabricate fixtures and tooling from engineering sketches, • Assemble welded components into larger structures, frames, platforms, and modular steel units, • Inspect welds for penetration, defects, and adherence to specifications, • Repair or rework fabrication issues or dimensional deviations, • Meet production output, quality standards, and labor-hour goals, • Maintain welding machines, tools, and PPE in safe working condition, • Follow OSHA, AWS, and internal safety procedures, • Proven experience as a Welder, Fabricator, MIG Welder, TIG Welder, or Industrial Welder, • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, Stick, GMAW, GTAW, and related processes, • Experience using grinders, saws, clamps, calipers, squares, and measurement tools, • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding schematics, • Knowledge of welding codes, safety procedures, and inspection standards, • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform bending, kneeling, climbing, and overhead work, • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship, • AWS Certification (GMAW, 3G Vertical Up, 4F Overhead), • Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials, • Background in structural steel, modular fabrication, or heavy manufacturing, • Knowledge of plasma cutting, torch cutting, and GTAW/TIG welding, • Understanding of fabrication tolerances and measurement verification, • Consistent 1st shift schedule (7:00 AM–4:00 PM), • Competitive pay + overtime opportunities, • Fast-growing modular and steel fabrication environment, • Work on complex, custom steel structures and large-scale fabrication projects We are an equal opportunity employer committed to a safe, inclusive, and diverse workplace.
