Job Description Our organization is in search of an exceptional Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery to lead our vibrant team. This position is available at the associate or professor level, providing a unique chance to influence the future of pediatric surgical care within our health system and the surrounding area. Our program is recognized as an ACS verified Level 1 pediatric surgery trauma center, the only one of its kind in the region. In this leadership role, you will manage a division that includes pediatric surgeons and an advanced practice provider, focusing on delivering comprehensive surgical and trauma care for infants, children, and adolescents. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, supporting faculty and administrative staff, and fostering growth in clinical, academic, and research initiatives. Position Highlights • Leadership opportunity to define the vision and strategy for pediatric surgery at the region’s sole academic medical center., • Comprehensive pediatric surgical services encompassing neonatal surgery, minimally invasive procedures, and trauma care., • Innovation-driven future with plans to enhance robotic surgery, ECMO, and advanced minimally invasive programs., • Integrated care – work collaboratively with pediatric subspecialties and the region’s only children’s hospital., • Regional expansion – increase access to advanced pediatric surgical services throughout northeastern New York, including complex cancer care and elective surgeries.Key Responsibilities, • Provide strategic and operational leadership as the Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery., • Act as the Chief of Surgery at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital., • Serve as the Trauma Medical Director for the Level 1 Trauma Program., • Manage daily operations, including oversight of faculty and administrative staff, budget management, and quality assurance programs., • Encourage collaboration among pediatric subspecialties within the health system., • Support academic development through teaching, mentoring, and research with medical students, residents, fellows, APPs, and faculty., • Enhance clinical programs to ensure outstanding quality and outcomes for pediatric patients., • Lead initiatives to expand pediatric surgical services across the health system., • Promote research activities and represent the division through publications and presentations at regional and national conferences., • Drive advancements in surgical techniques, focusing on minimally invasive and robotic surgery., • Continue to refine a robust quality program in alignment with departmental and health standards., • Collaborate with the department chair on faculty development, recruitment, and retention strategies.Qualifications, • MD/DO or equivalent with board certification in Pediatric Surgery., • A Master’s degree in business administration or healthcare administration, or certification in a leadership program is highly preferred., • Academic qualifications suitable for appointment at the associate or professor level., • Proven track record in clinical leadership, operational management, program development, and faculty oversight., • Dedication to advancing innovation in pediatric surgery, particularly in minimally invasive and robotic techniques., • Experience in clinical research is highly desirable.Benefits and Opportunities, • Attractive base salary ranging from $681K to $724K, based on experience and academic rank, along with additional incentive bonuses., • Generous sign-on bonus to welcome you to our team., • Relocation assistance to facilitate your move., • Comprehensive health insurance options (medical, dental, vision)., • Ample paid time off and holiday schedule., • Retirement plan plus a 403(b) option., • Annual CME allowance and dedicated time for continuing education., • Occurrence-based malpractice coverage.
